Why it is that you PREFER, indeed CHOOSE... to put your faith in the Bible as the "word [from] God" that "speaks" to you... instead of in the Holy Spirit, who is the Son of God and Holy One of Israel?
I really cannot answer this question because your view of the Holy Spirit is really off. The Holy Spirit is not the Son of God...unless you are a Modalist, and therefore outside the realm of historic Chrstian orthodoxy.

the jw's teach that most (to them, that means all) religions teach the trinity as being that god almighty, jesus, and the holy spirit are literally one, meaning the exact same 'person', none higher than the other, inseparable, the exact same thing.
they mainly use catholics and baptists, in my experience.
Their goal isn't to argue YOUR trinity. They first need you to accept THEIR trinity, then they deconstruct it. It is very disingenuous.
This is a very good point, ATJ. One of the first rules in a debate is to never allow an opponent to define your position. This is one of the reasons why I do not argue the Trinity with JWs, but instead go for directly after the authority of the Governing Body. Once the GB's authority has been undermined, then I will begin to dismantle WT doctrine in a systematic manner.

I have not really studied Revelation since leaving the JWs. In perusing the various commentaries on Revelation, I have found that the commentators read the book with the mindset of the age they live in rather than as a 1st century Jew. Further, the eschatalogical bent of the commentator also colors the commentary.

Yes, I spanked my kids. However, my ex and I sat down and discussed that spanking was a punishment reserved for blatant rebellion, lying, or theft. Anything else got groundings or restrictions. Spankings had a whole set of rules that we had to adhere to. They could only be administered by the parent who was not directly involved, had to be administered with both parents present, and after an hour "time-out". The spanking was a single swat on the butt. We really strifed to not spank out of anger or for silly reasons, like my ex and I got spanked over.

Never really noticed it. The Hall I grew up in was predominately Latino, with three Anglo families (including mine) and one mixed race family (Black & Anglo). In our circuit, there was one other black family, that I recall.

I don't think that this is something exclusive to the JWs. I think that all cults do this.
