An Apology
by XJW4EVR inas a christian, i would like to apologize for the stupid and insensitive remarks made by pat robertson.
instead of throwing stones from his ivory tower in virginia, he should have taken a que from the one he claims to follow who when asked about the murders of galileans making their sacrifices by pilate said, "do you think that these galileans were worse sinners than all the other galileans because they suffered this way?
but unless you repent, you too will all perish.

Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish" (Luke 13:2-5, NIV).

Do You Believe The USA Will Have Another 9/11???
by minimus inwe were very lucky not to have another airplane blow up this past christmas.. do you think we will see this country under a systematic attack in the near future?.
-
XJW4EVR
Yes, it will happen again. With the porous this country's southern border it will be easy for Islamic terrorists to smuggle a dirty bomb into a major city anddetonate it.

O Holy Night. The first time I ever heard it was when I watched Home Alone with a bunch of JWs. It moved me then, and still moves me.

What's Your View on Tipping?
by minimus intypically, i give at least 20% on my total bill.
if the service or the waitress is especially charming, maybe more.. i wonder, when you sit at a bar/restaurant and have a meal and drinks and then order a take out ( i do this for my mother quite often) are you supposed to tip on everything, including the takeout??.
when i stay in a hotel, i typically leave 2 or 3 dollars per day for the maid.

I am generally a ten percent tipper unless I get truly outstanding service then it's 20% (which is very seldom in Los Angeles).

Millenium views? - Pre or Post
by xelder ini've read both of ray franz's books (excellent) and both of carl o. jonsson's (also excellent) after dismantling the wt doctrine of 607 and last days, carl o. jonsson comments on the establishment of christ's kingdom in the year 33. i assume (i think i'm right) that he is supporting a postmillenialist or amillenialist view, as apposed to premillenialism.
can anyone point me to a good source of information and discussion on these various views?
do any of you favor one over another?
-
XJW4EVR
I recommend The Meaning of the Millenium: Four Views. I no longer hold to any of these views however. Dr. Robert Morey did a series on what he called Jewish Appocalypticism and the Book of Revelation that I believe is the best and most balanced view I have heard

That's a great movie. The character "Brooks" Hatlen always reminds me of my grandpa.

Saw it this afternoon, and thought it was pure mind candy. Nothing substantial not speak of, but it was a good ride...even if the movie was nearly 3 hours. However, I am not posting a review. Some of the scenes of the destruction gave me a rather unsettled feeling. Namely the earth opening up and swallowing buildings, cars and people. My mind immediately flashed back to some of the illustrations of Armeggeddon in the old Paradise Lost book. I know that some of you here are still coping with those issues, so I thought it best to warn you.
On the other hand, I did see the trailer for Invictus. CLint Eastwood's latest movie about Nelson Mandela and the South African World Cup rugby team. Can't wait to see that one.
