What ANNOYS you personally?
by little1 ini read the "what offends you?
" thread, but i think i get more annoyed than offended by things.
there's a difference.. here are some things that annoy me.

recoveringjw
I am having a very annoying day. But today, the most annoying thing for me is:
When people come into my relatively small insurance office, ask to use the restroom and then leave their gastrointestinal issues all over the bathroom. Why can't they take their sh*t home????? Why do they come to where I work and not only stink up my bathroom, but make it so that we practically have to call in the hazardous materials team?
Why???????

This is one I never understood, either. And my parent's always bought a turkey anyway and my mom would make a huge turkey dinner the day AFTER Thanksgiving.

elder tries to lecture me on parental respect
by unbeliever inever since i attend the dfing announcement of a friend i seem to be on the shit list of every jdub i come across especially mother.

gdt,
You know, I bet that unbeliever does actually respect his/her mum. I think though that this is not the point of the thread. The point of the thread is that it's not any of the elder's business and being completely unqualified to do so, should not be giving parenting or any other advice. This elder most like has no clue about the dynamics of this relationship and should just butt out.
With all due respect,

Graduated high school with mediocre grades. Am attending college now, finally. I want to be a midwife when I "grow" up.

See, I always think of cool-headed piercing comebacks AFTER I leave and it's too late! I am so impressed that you told him to mind his own damned business in such a diplomatic way. Some elders are so self-righteous, it makes me ill . And he probably said, "I have no college background" like he was freakin' proud of it!

Des,
I have read that Lhasa's are a very cool breed of small dog--they have "big" dog personalities. I think that if I didn't have a veritable zoo right now, I would get a Lhasa, even though I live in a duplex.

When you read what else are you doing?
by Panda inok usually i'll be drinking iced tea when i read... sometime coffee if i read in the am.
i've tried reading while mr.panda is watching tv but that doesn't always work.
so what do you do while you read?
-
recoveringjw
When I read, I like to be lying down. I also smoke many cigarettes and drink many cups of tea. I can't read while the TV is on and sometimes I can't concentrate on my book when my husband is in the kitchen listening to Tom Martino, because Tom Martino is distracting.
BTW--I took the summer off from school and I have been reading a LOT this summer. I just counted and I've read at least 17 books this summer. Hmm....maybe I should get a life!

Edited to say that I should also not use the word "summer" three times in as many sentences

"The understanding"
by seattleniceguy inwhen i first left the organization and started thinking things over, nothing represented the thought-control as succinctly as the oft-used phrase "the understanding," as in the sentence, "what is the understanding of the parable of the sheep and the goats?".
this must boggle the minds of outsiders.
it implies that there is a single understanding, which all witnesses have.

Hive mentality! Gaaaaaah! And I always thought it was amusing that people around here call the WTBTS "the borganization". Now, I have new "understanding" and it's not funny anymore!
