Studying the new "Keep on the Watch!" brochure - Contradictions on page 18?
by ozziepost init's a while since i reviewed the publications that dubs use on their "home bible studies", so the release of a new brochure gives us that opportunity again!.
dubs will be using the "keep on the watch!
" brochure to "invite" the lapsed, as well as the recently interested ones to commit themselves to "god's earthly organisation".. the trouble is, that the writing department have used this glossy brochure to misrepresent the 'real' truth.. page 18 shows a picture of a happy social gathering in "the new system".

Oh, wow...everything is starting to make sense!!!
Willie Wonka is God. Charlie is Christ. The Chocolate Factory is the WTB&TS and all those candies are the publications. The Oompa Loompas are the faithful JWs at Bethel (remember that lovely "spiritual" paradise inside the factory where they get to work on in endless joy!). The naughty children are those who will be destroyed at Armageddon. I'm not sure about Grandpa Joe, though. Maybe he represents the folks who get "grandfathered" in by means of the resurrection. So get on down to your local candy-store/ congregation. Sit in plastic chairs for hours on end (so as not to get too off-topic). Buy, sell, and eat lots of Wonka Bars and you, too, can be saved! Thanks everybody for showing me the way. I have a new Bible now.
And remember: "The Candy Man Can!"

I called a so called friend today and told her I was leaving the truth
by Tim Horton inshe asked me how she could help?
i said it was too late!
i was tired of being mistreated in the truth.

Hey there,
All my best to you! I can certainly understand why you feel sad but why do you feel worthless?
I hope you don't really think that your friend is "in the truth" and that you are "leaving the truth." I'm sure you don't from what you said, but it's amazing how those implanted concepts can continue to color our views on things and our relationships with those who reject us on the basis of their belief that the Society has a monopoly on truth. I imagine you are leaving behind what you now recognize as a very limited concept of truth so that you can be free to explore more genuine truths. That's what I did anyway.
I think you are very brave and strong. Maybe some day some of those old friends of ours will be able to see just how much strength and courage and spirit it took for us to be true to ourselves and our own personal relationships with God. But even if not, we can still do that for ourselves and each other. This is a wonderful place to come when you're feeling troubled. Everyone expresses such understanding and caring and I have found true words of wisdom here. I am sure you will, too. So many of us have had or are having to explore just exactly what we have based our self-worth on. It is so important that it not be based on something that can crumble or be taken away from us.
I hope that you will consider me a friend of some sort even though we don't actually know each other. My heart goes out to you in your distress and I hope that that helps more than these clumsy words ever could. (((((Tim Horton)))))

What kind of Curcuit Overseers visited your congregation?
by Thechickennest inthinking about the co's i have encountered over the years.....it went something like this:.

his wife did not approve..

I have very fond memories of the COs who visited our congregation over the years. They often stayed with my grandmother right next door and my family loved doing things to try to make their stay less stressful and more enjoyable. But I was just a kid then and not involved in any of the adult problems and controversies that may have been going on around me. I have a feeling that my experiences and perspective might be quite different now. I do remember some being less friendly and approachable than others; some were great story-tellers and speakers, others quite stiff and dull. I wonder how many of them (those still living, that is) have remained faithful dubs? And, more importantly, why? I always wonder that about J-dubs I have liked or admired.

Is the "Holy Spirit" a person or a "force"?
by booker-t ini just love the information i get off this website.
all of your(posters) comments and criticism have truly been educational to me.
i have another question that i have been pondering since leaving the wts.

MerryMagdalene
Upon considering Acts 13:2 where "the holy spirit said"-- maybe, since Jesus was described as the "image" of God and His visible representative, no one being able to look directly on God and live (like the moon reflecting the light of the sun), then the Holy Spirit was considered to be the "voice" of God (above and beyond His other angels/messengers), inferring that no one can hear God directly and live (as explained by God's Voice, Metatron, in the movie Dogma) and so, like Jesus, could well be an individual "person" that somehow is one with the Divine Essence yet specially set apart...
But what about later on in verse 9 where Paul/Saul becomes "filled with the holy spirit?" If the holy spirit is a seperate entity or personality like Jesus then does this became a case of angelic possession?
There's also Matthew 1:18 where Mary finds herself "pregnant by holy spirit." Yikes. I guess Metatron should have been shown with genitals after all. And Mary was pregnant with "the Word," right? Could Jesus gestation thus be considered a pregnant pause?
