  ALERT ON BLOOD REFUSAL CASE/ALBERTA/SHUNNED FATHER

  as all should be aware, lawrence hughes daughter has leukemia and is in the 4th and final stage of treatment.

  the jws are still fighting to have the daughter declared an adult instead of a minor so she can kill herself instead of receiving a life saving blood transfusion.

  now lawrence's lawyer refuses to help anymore even though 1 case is on appeal at the supreme court and a second trial is starting in alberta on monday june 17, 2002. .

  I want to thank you for your efforts in keeping the board informed on this matter.

  I am not privy as to how the Canadian court system works. A question. Who is the "crown"? Is that the government?

  It sends chills down my spine to think that the WTS might win this case on appeal.

  My hubby did the dishes today. He always does the laundry when he's home. In fact, he is much neater and more organized than I am. However, he doesn't clean the bathroom. Oh well, can't have it all!

  He thinks along the lines of Angels husband. The less energy I expend on "chores" the more energy I will have for "fun".

  Although it wasn't in the name of the Watertower, I know what it is like to be devastated by the words, and actions, of a parent.

  Reading your post put a knot in my stomach.

  I'm so sorry you had to hear so many terrible things from the people that are suppose show you love.

  What I find that comforts me the most is knowing that my own children will never have to experience such rejection from me.

  it just CHAPS MY ASS!

  i dedided to post this topic based upon the thread started by jt concerning the latest qfr in a recent watchtower concerning the submission of women.. i've made this point before in a post that in the beginning, according to the bible, god gave both men and women a curse - men to work the fields in sweat making a living, which today entails more than working fields.

  and women to experience an increase in birth pains along with their husbands dominating them.

  well these days, women have to meet men half way on their curse, because it seems that most families cannot make a living without the woman working.

  When I first met my husband I made more money than him. In fact, the whole time I "worked" I made more money than him.

  For the last ten years I have been a homemaker and primary caretaker of our children. That's right, I haven't made a dime in 10 years. Does that make me submissive or a slave to our male dominated society? To some females it does. I find that I am pitied and envied at the same time by women. I have even overheard a few snide comments made when I was suppose to be out of earshot.The assumption is made that either I am a rich frump(yeah right, my spouse is truck driver) or that I am a prisoner held hostage by the old fashion idea that kids need to have one parent available to them at all times.

  As for the GB, I really couldn't care less. I certainly didn't factor in those old geezers opinions. Will they change? Most likely not. Especially, with the misogynous bible as their guide.

  what were you expecting when you clicked that topic ?!?!.

  actually, i read an interesting bit of trivia somewhere that said mens nipples are always 9 inches apart.

  i measured mine and i'm spot on.. of course i'd be disappointed if all my vital stats were just 9 inches

  Question On Blood

  i just recently read a post on another board where a person claiming to be a witness claims that she called the society as was informed by them that it was all right to have one's own blood stored for future use.

  anyone else heard of this?

  am i just slipping behind the times or could she be mistaken about the matter?

  Before everyone gets excited about the Society's New Light on this subject, please consider that most blood, and it's components, have expiration dates.

  It's too complicated to list here, but for example, red blood cells have an expiration date of 42 days. For a planned surgery, storage of blood would be useful. In the case of sudden illness, storage would of ones own blood would be just about worthless. Unless, of course, a witness wanted to donate constantly as to always have a supply of blood "on hand".
