  CANADA DAY vs. INDEPENDENCE DAY!

  i was coming home this evening from some ex-witness friends of mine (after part-y-ing), and i had the windows on my car down, playing one of elvis' tapes..........i was stopped at the stop light and i noticed several people sitting on the street giving me dirty looks and i couldn't figure out why at first.......then it dawned on me: they were waiting to see the canada day parade and i was playing "dixie" on my car cd.........(hehehehehehehehe........) i guess not a smart thing to do........ the parade sucked dead rocks and i was just wondering if it was only in my locale, or if other canadians also experienced a crap-o-rama parade.........seeing as this is the first july 4th party since 9-11, i assume that americans will be going all-out in their display of patriotism (i can't blame em) and i wanted to see what others had to say about their country's celebration.......hell up here, all the stores, malls, everything closes up like a ghost town - nothing's open on canada day............

  I, personally, have ALWAYS loved the 4th of July. Even when I was a JW kid, because my Mom (who hated being a JW) would allow me to celebrate with the neighborhood kids. Lots of fireworks and sparklers. Though now, sparklers are outlawed here.

  I love Canadians! Nice people, overall. I'm disappointed that some bad mouth us. The area that I live in literally doubles in size every winter because of the influx of Canadian snowbirds escaping those harsh winters. I believe that Americans and Canadians have much more in common than differences. Though, I know that they can get a bit sensitive when compared to Americans and feel overlooked by the rest of the world.

  What do Americans actually really know about???

  what do americans in general actually really know about the big outside world outside of their own culture?.

  it's certainly not just me, but for years since early childhood in fact, it has been commonly accepted by many, that americans in general are the biggest ignorant fools residing almost anywhere on the planet, yet they still do their damndest to have everyone believe what a great nation they are.

  is it even beyond their comprehension how foolish they look often to the rest of the world, the fact that they have so little understanding of problems on the worldwide front?.

  As an American that likes to learn about other cultures, I will resist the temptation in telling you to F**K OFF! ok?

  You know WHAT I find disgusting about Europeans? Those that lump AMERICANS together and call them IGNORANT.

  I live in an area that is visited by many Brits in the summer time. They like to come here because it's cheaper during the summer months and it's damn hot! (they love the heat)

  What they like:

  Friendliness of Americans and how they are made to feel WELCOME here.

  That we support and applaud a persons success. In contrast to the Brits overall resentment and suspicion of anyone who tries to better their circumstances.

  What they don't like:

  Too much litter. They think we should take better care of what we have here (I agree)

  Update on Mom

  yesterday, before we went to dinner at mak and sabine's, a friend called me from the kh to warn me they had mom on the phone link for the meeting (their meeting is at 4pm).

  i went downstairs to see what she was up to, since i had taken the phones out, to stop her from calling everyone in town to complain about the 'abuse she was suffering' at the hands of her daughter (me).

  she was standing over the speaker phone (i had taken the hand set off), and she was furiously pushing buttons, and sobbing.

  So sorry about the situation with your Mom. I've been watching from the sidelines while my husbands Mom(she's 82) loses her grip with reality, and it's so painful for him. She can get quite belligerent. We can't bring our children around anymore because she accuses them of the silliest things and I found it too upsetting. She was found wandering in her neighborhood at 3am, lost. I can't imagine what it must be like with the JW thing mixed in.

  Still, you are missing the point.

  It's the risk of being infected in the first place placed against the risk of dying.

  Let's say...risk of being infected with Hep C- less than 1%

  weighed against the risk of dying if refused blood with needed-100%

  If someone, who is fully (not just from WTS crap) informed, AND NOT A CHILD, refuses, well go ahead, die.

  an article appearing in a local newspaper featured the building of a local kingdom hall.

  next to the article, a seperate column liste some beliefs of jehovah's witnesses, after stating briefly who they are and how they originated.. the article then listed their beliefs as follows:.
