  says it is by satanic design to untheocratically elevate the woman above the man.tipping your hat to a woman could possibly lead to improper advances.it sets a woman apart because of her sex.it is subtly disguised creature worship!.

  Okay, so it's fine to set her apart, just as long as it's to remind her place is to be in submission. There are those "haute couture" napkins place on the head that are a lovely reminder. So, I suppose that leaves opening doors and pushing in chairs also "improper"?

  I know I would have never made it as a JW woman. There isn't an antidepressant invented that would have been able to treat the depression I would have had.

  just seen her do it, less than a minute ago.

  serina beat her sister venus to win the wimbledon women's tennis championships a moment ago.

  in front of the whole centre court, sue barker asked her for her comments over the microphone system.

  I remember some years back, Richard Williams predicting that his daughters would dominate women's tennis and that there would be an "All Williams Final". People scoffed then. Ha!

  With the society's position on competition and sports, at least they did get a chance to develop their athletic skills. Especially because they are females. I understand (and I could be wrong) that Richard is NOT a JW. If that is so, then his family "headship" worked to his daughters advantage.

  So, I am curious, how exactly are the Williams sisters viewed in the JW community? Their success has certainly not gone unnoticed by the rank, and The Big Boys in NY? Perhaps the girls are generous with their earnings? Being that between the two of them they won over a Mil. One can only speculate.

  Hey PS,

  You are in a very tough spot. Take it easy and be patient with yourself. I can't share any words of wisdom because only my Dad is a JW, and he is clear where I stand.

  Just keep coming here. Vent and post to help relieve the stress. And if your Mom keeps it up, perhaps you can ask the board how you can respond to her so that you can savage some of your sanity, and keep your Mom at bay. It can be a very delicate balancing act, but many here have been in your shoes.

  Please resist the compulsion to "go off" at her. Like others have said, it makes a JW brain shut down. And then you risk completely alienating her and possibly some of your family.

  Baby steps.

  USA Pride / Euro Concerns

  most of the criticism of the usa seems to come from our european brothers and sisters.

  i call them such because they primarily settled our continient and are our ancestors.

  i have noticed some trends in this and find some fair things on their part for americans to consider.

  Well done, Amazing. You made some great points.

  And it is because Americans as a people, in general, do care about our European brothers and sisters, and that is why we feel their criticism more harshly.

  I know for myself, being the half-breed I am (half german-speaking Russian and half Irish), many Americans still strongly indentify with our European roots. It wasn't very long ago that our family lived THERE.

  Even when Americans do use a metric unit, they get it wrong.

  I'll have you know, Kent, that the US does sell its sodas, at the supermarket, in two LITER bottles!

  It was the only thing that stuck after they tried to get us Americans to switch over to the metric system.

  Due in part to this forum my Aunt that was, DF'd over 35 YEARS ago, has been able to get through her shame and bitterness that she carried since that horrible event. Through Freeminds, and various essays that were written, especially by Amazing, that were printed off and given to her to read. The transformation as been stunning!

  As for myself, I love the humor and insight I have found here. When someone is in need, the support shown is overwhelming.
