  THI-CHI: I think you're right about the timing of the announcement being political.

  But whether the explosives went missing before or after the US invasion won't matter to the people who'll be blown up by them in the near future. What matters is how "targets" are selected by the groups that will use them, and how to stop them.

  The US definitely needs to improve in this respect.

  And in regards to the comment that these explosives were always available to be bought from other sources: Having such large amounts flood the blackmarket will surely make it more cheaper, so more easier, for groups to get their hands on them.

  Kinda like a revamped take on the idea that we're all just the fabricated bits of a higher being's dream? But with something observable to point to, in support of it.

  Einstein described that bit about the two electrons affecting each other, at faster than light speeds, as "spooky action at a distance". Its called quantum entanglement. Why this happens or is possible, is too involved for my feeble mind to grasp adequately but philosophers love its implications.

  If you like this sorta stuff, then look into the 10 or 12 dimensionional models of the universe. The more knowledgable say that it can account for quantum entanglement and a whole other slew of counter-intuitive things that happen on the quantum scale. Maybe we're real after all.

  I'll grant you that some jws do make some charitable donations now and again: like say you go to someone's funeral and the family asks for a donation to cancer research etc. My own sib who only works part-time at a near minimum wage job and pioneers, makes monthly donations to Toronto's Sick Children's Hospital.

  THESE ARE INDIVIDUALS and they're not efforts officially endorsed by the Society. Don't evade that central point. That the Society would rather have you using your resources and time to promote their self-interests than in other charities that actually help people.

  Since I'm "fading", my repeated lie is showing up to jw meetings from time to time to see family, and pretending like everything is fine.

  My biggest lie to date is a toss up between: 1) my getting baptized (I lied to myself at that point...thinking maybe I'd change) 2) and my not having any feelings for this one person

  I first try to decipher the motives the other peson had for the lie...if it was to spare me some hurt, I don't even bring it up...if it was questionable, I'll forgive them easily, but if it was malicious, then I just try to steer clear of them from then on...

  Sure some lies are okay....I've spared one very sweet person a life of misery with my lousy economic situation and sub-par health.

  MY CELIBACY VOW AND OTHER QUESTIONS!

  )o.k so last night i made a vow of celibacy to god.

  an official promise in prayer to not fornicate so that maybe i too can have a special wedding night.

  (my boyfriend was surprisingly supportive) i remember reading a scripture that says a promise made to god should be taken very serious.

  We're all going to be expressing our particular opinions, and sometimes a few will be diametrically oppossed. I wouldn't personally take others comments as insinuating you were a religious prude. They're expressing their own viewpoints and I believe they are doing it to help you....to help foster a mindset where you refelct on and re-examine your own beliefs and standards. I believe they wanted to get across the idea of "don't do it just because OTHERS told you its so."

  What is the true Christian religion / faith?

  i,m going to cut to the chase here .i am not long viewing this website and am fascinated at much of what i have read.currently i attend meetings, but sit there and think of what i now know about the society and its past.i just feel so confused at the moment with religion.. its a bit like who shot jfk ,did man really land on the moon etc .. except it involves all of us( just wish i knew the truth).

  the only thing that is keeping me there right now is that all my family are in the "truth" ,,and i cant just stay at home and be shunned which i have recently experienced ( was inactive for a while) .. if i knew beyond any shadow of a doubt that i have found the true faith and discern that it is definately the true faith, i would then make a stand and nothing would stop me .

  already i am reading the scriptures without the aid of wt publications and what i am reading is amazing .i am starting to feel that i am now getting closer to god by simply doing this coupled with prayer.. there must be one true faith as there was in the first century.

  Hi Evergreen,

  Like several people mentioned already, you're starting off on an exciting journey. You're leaving the road that leads to nowhere, and you're going down the road that leads to --- ???????? ----

  Is there ONE true faith to be found? I don't know. I agree with a lot of people that say the Golden Rule and loving others as yourself are probably the closest ideas to universal truths. With questions though, I have been able to find out a bit more about myself. Where my "spirituality" needs to grow or change. Like a very fine point made by Corvin. No other person should control or try to influence your personal interactions with the divine.

  As to how things were in the first century, I believe you'll find a book by Bart D. Ehrman interesting. Its called:

  Lost Christianities: The Battle for Scripture and the Faiths We Never Knew
