Some people followed Jehovah's Organization, and God killed 'em
by AlmostAtheist ingina and i were batting around how the organization calls itself "god's channel" out of one side of their mouth and then reminds everyone that they are "imperfect men" out of the other.
this allows them to claim a position of authority as "god's organization" while at the same time allowing them to make mistakes and get away with it.
(1975, "generation", all the flavors of blood, etc).

Jerusalem was destroyed in 586BCE not 607BCE. History, in any book that I have read, is very clear on this. Mayby I'm wrong on this, but I've yet to find, or let alone, read a clear and concise justification as to why JW's use 607. As a result, it appears their current, and in apparent total error, doctrinal/belief timeline is way off center, and as a result, their 1914 date is suspect, or in my view totally wrong, along with many of their other contempory teachings (lies?) that are based on the year 607 as the year Jerusalem was destroyed.

Marcos,
I emphathize with you. Before I was divorced there were times when my then wife would just take off stating that she was going to the shopping center or something. She'd be gone for 5 or 6 hours before returning home. I came to find out later that she was at a JW friends home. As with you, my ex also took my two children with her to the KH, or wherever she went. Luckily, nothing took hold, and both kids, now grown, are normal and leading decent lives without the JW's or WT Society.
As I understand it, and not being a JW I'm not totally clear on this (can a ex-JW on this string clarify), JW's are allowed to lie to someone, including husbands and family, if they feel a person, or persons, is not authorized to know something they consider WT or JW proprietary. I'm positive my ex lied to me quite a few times and felt, at least from I could tell, quite alright about it. The JW's/WT packaged, wrapped and bundled my ex-wife up quite well.
It's funny, but I still love her and always will. After divorce she did not move too far away, and when I run into her from time-to-time, she always interjects somehwere in our conversation that I'm going to be sorry because the end will soon be here.
The best to you Marcos. I hope everything works out ok for you.

Blondie,
Your comment,
"As her husband, according to WT rules, you are still the head of the family and she should be telling you about her activities and not just leaving. She is required to get all her home duties taken care of and not neglect the children in order to do this preaching."
I couldn't disagree more with.
After 20 years of a good marriage my wife joined the JW's. She kept her initial meeting attendance and "free" bible study a secret from me (I found out about her partership with the JW's about 9 months after her initial contact. I would have found out sooner had I not been away at sea). I was in the Navy at the time (she started back in 1994), and it wasn't until I discovered a few of her books, watchtower and awake magazines that I knew for sure that she was in pretty deep. Upon confronting her all she could do was recite bible verses to me. She was a totally different woman Anyway, I don't think she knew, or just did not follow, the WT rules on marriage, respecting her husband, etc. I felt as though she had divorced me and took the WT Society as her mate. Even though I knew of her involvement, she rarely told me when she attended meetings or went out to sell magazines. I felt I had become a second class citizen, an "object", in her life. If I wanted to go to dinner or just go out with her on one of her meeting nights, guess what, she went to the meeting. On one occasion I got very angry with her and told her to stay home, that we were going out. She reluctantly said ok, but called an elder, or someone else in authority, to let them know that she would not be making this particular meeting. Not 10 seconds after hanging up the phone she was on her way out, saying something about her going to die, as she darted out the door, and off to her meeting. I did not try to stop her.
I put up with it for a few years but finally got tired sharing part of my life with the JW's and WT Society. We were divorced about a year and half ago, something she was elated about.
I guess not all the loving JW's follow the rules.

THE AWESOME POWER OF GOD
by Brownboy inthe awesome power of god

You are really grasping as staws now Brownie. For you own edification Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning Port (Tsu) Wave (Nami). Where did you get the other crap about sun-man, etc. Sounds like a croc of BS to me; something you may have pulled out of your rear end, or is typical of JW deceptive/lieing reasoning
In a lot of your post you seem very judgemental. Why? Who are you to judge any of us? Are you without sin? God forgive you if you think you are. It almost seems that you are ready to cast the first stone. In some case it seems you already have. Pretty hypocritical.
By the way, do your elders know you on here making a fool of yourself? Or, are you an elder, or someone with a little more clout; DO, CO perhaps..??
" If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he than came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have life eternal. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth in him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotton Son of God."
Do you believe Brownie? Or Are you condemed because you don't? Think about it.
May the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ and the fellow-ship of man be with you always.

What's next for the Watchtower in 2005?
by truthseeker inafter all the events of 2004 regarding the botchtower, what do you think will happen next year?.
i can think of a few events.. first of all, 70 years will have passed since rutherflawed took on the name "jehovah's witnesses" - a gross misapplication of that scripture in isaiah.. all the new man presses will be operational - already, the wt have increased their watchtower circulation.. "godly obedience" district convention next summer - we all know what that will be about; and don't forget the layman's km article on how to book a hotel, and not just any hotel at that either.. a new book to replace "organised to accomplish our ministry".

Ditto Steve2
If a group is going to claim to be the "Most blessed people in the world", as I heard a speaker refer to the JW's as during a recent memorial service, then they had better be able to back a statement like that with justification and reason, and expect to be criticized, scrutinized and questioned, as Steve2 elaborates so well in his mail.
"Who should succeed in the world should be wise in the use of his pronouns. Utter the YOU twenty times, where you once utter the I. John Hay, c 1935
Happy New Year Bob.

Bob Dobbs,
We all love you too. May you have a very Happy New Year, and unlike you wishing Jehovah rebuke all us "evil" people, I wish for you that the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the fellow-ship of all men, be with you always.
" For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that WHOEVER believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believe in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3:16-18
Have a wonderful day Bob. God Bless you.

I read somewhere where 2005 may be considered "the year" to a good number of JW's. It has to do with Eve being created 30 years after Adam or something and since the 6000 years since his creation was 1975...so forth and so on. Something along the lines of 1975 + 30 = 2005. I also read where 2034 could be another and that this year has something to do with the time between God telling Noah to build the Ark and him actually finishing it, 120 years I guess, and supposedly Jesus invisibly returned in 1914... and so forth and so on. Again somthing along the lines of 1914 + 120 = 2034.
More predictions/guesses?

Which is worse: shunning by JW or by Non-JW relatives?
by GermanXJW inyesterday, on the first christmas holiday, my family and me were invited at my father in law's house.
he has never been a jw and we had no contact but because he shunned us for being jw.
i find this as offensive as being shunned by a jw - maybe even worse because he decided personally to have no contact.

This is an interesting topic. I am not a JW, nor have ever been one. After a marriage of 20+ years my ex-wife joined the JW's and is now a full-fledged member. She kept her entire involvement to herself, and from me (I found out about her involvement about a year after she had started her "free bible study" by discovering some magazines she was hiding. This is one of the major reasons we eventually divorced).
She is a Japanese national and did not come out of the JW "closet" until after she was baptized. As a result her mother and sister in Japan want nothing to do with her anymore. They blame her for the divorce (I was very close and well liked by all the inlaws) and have essentially told her to stay away (I still communicate with them from time-to-time). A sister, and her family, whom I still communicate with as well, in Germany, has for the most part, refused to be her sister anymore and also want nothing to do with my ex-wife.
I have not shunned my ex, but rarely see her (we live about 20 mins from each other). From what I understand (my son and daughter are still close to their mother and communicate with her regularly) she attend 3 or 4 meetings a week, does her service stuff, and attends Saturday functions. The last time I did talked with her (about a month ago) she did not appear to be phased by the family shunning. I know she had not talked with her mother or sisters in over a year.
Although I do not agree with the families "reverse shunning" I understand their feelings. They, as I, fail to understand how my wife, their daughter, after 20 years of a very good marriage, decided to join a group they consider a cult.
