Another point , i would like to make , If you check out a few scriptures ie Acts 7:44,45 and Hebrews 4:7.
You will clearly see that these scriptures are refering to Joshua. In fact check out several bibles, they all refer to Joshua. Now look at the King james version ( can be viewed online if you dont have that version). Whose name do you see there???
Why have they put Jesus in those scriptures instead of Joshua as in other Bibles. Simple, because both Jesus and Joshua were both from the same name Yahushua. Jesus transliterated back to the Hebrew from Greek/Latin is Yahushua.
If as we see in other Bibles the name Joshua, then The name Jesus should also be referred to as Joshua coming from yoshua, yahshua, yahushua( Hope im not confusing everyone).

Is Gods correct name pronounced Jehovah?? What about the messiahs name?
by evergreen ini thought i would ask this question as i have been reading some fascinating information on some other sites as to the correct pronunciation of gods real name?
also for that matter, i ask what jesus proper pronounced name is?.
if you go to another country and tell people your name and instead of calling you your name as you pronounced it, they automatically transliterate it into their own language and call you by the name thay have transliterated it in to; would that annoy you after awhile?

You will find that Jesus as mentioned before was changed from his Hebrew name "Yahushua" ( which means Yah saves or yah is salvation) into the greek transliteration "iesous".
It was further transliterated again into the Latin name "iesus" which was the way it was spelt in the original Translation of the king James bible. The Letter "J" was never used in the Hebrew language. In fact the letter "J" only came into existence in the English alphabet in the 16th century or there abouts.
Also the name Jehovah which is supposed to be Gods Literal hebrew name transliterated from the Tetragrammaton cannot be the correct spelling or pronunciation. If the letter J did not exist in the Hebrew language or writings and wasnt even in the English alphabet untill about the 16th century, How can his name be correct??
If you do some research on the name "yahushua" and the name "Yahweh". You will find a lot of startling truths about why these names are important.
I am not saying for an absolute certain that Gods name is "Yahweh" but all the evidence seems to point in that direction. Think about the first part of his name when we think of the expression Hallelujah (praise be to Jah) in the book of Psalms. Change the "J" to "Y" and you have "praise be to Yah" which is the shortened name of God.
There are quite a number of sites that go into this topic a lot deeper. Please have a look as you will truly be amazed to find the "Truth" on this matter. -

Hi everyone , not been here for a while. I thought i would ask this question as i have been reading some fascinating information on some other sites as to the correct pronunciation of Gods real name? Also for that matter, i ask what Jesus proper pronounced name is?. Think about it. If you go to another country and tell people your name and instead of calling you your name as you pronounced it, they automatically transliterate it into their own language and call you by the name thay have transliterated it in to; would that annoy you after awhile?? For Example Your name is simon. You go to some where in Africa and tell people your name is simon. The next day everyone you met the day before calls you (made up name example) fharanday. Because that is the transliteration of the name simon into their language. So everyday they call you by this name simply because that is their translation of this name ( Fharanday of course is a made up name but just to prove the point). Would you be ok about this ?? of couse you would not want to offend people because that is their transliteration of your name and you realise that, but wouldnt you explain to them that the pronunciation of your name is actually simon!!!! That is your name . That is the Phonetic sound of your name rgardless of language and transliteration!!! You could be in timbuktoo (not sure of the spelling ,sorry) you still want to be called simon regardless. So i beg the Question, from the tetragrammaton, Is Gods name Jehovah?? ; also is Jesus the correct pronunciation of his hebrew name??. I think you will find this subject a little bit controversial, but food for thought. Think about it!!!!

Underground vaults of Edinburgh
by Virgogirl inthe travel channel aired a show, "most haunted" featuring the city walks and horribly, macabre underground vaults of edinburgh.
supposedly the poor lived beneath the streets in caves and caverns where robbery and murder took place.
the ghosts said to roam the underground rooms are angry and agressive with visitors, sometimes touching, pushing, or calling their names.

Yes ive been to the vaults . A "brother" suggested i go when i was in edinburgh and both of us went along. It is obviously a bit commercialised but still worth the visit as strange things have been reported there. I got a little bit scared in one room as i suddenly realised i was the last one to leave that room . it was apparently the room with the most activity and i just wanted to get out because it was pitch black.
but all in all it is worth it and i recommend you go for a pint in the pub attached to it as they have turned some of the cellars into wee drinking holes. You will be guaranteed to see something after a good drink lol.

I thought that as time passed I'd feel more joy, not less and that I'd learn to enjoy going out in service and helping the poor lost souls in the world to find true peace and security. ; Didn't happen. ; I got to feeling more and more harassed, more and more guilt-ridden, and more and more like I had to make some major excuses for my dear "brothers" and "sisters" in the congo.
Similiar along the above lines. I just felt my life was taken up with so many meetings, field service, endless boring talks, endless thursday meetings about how to place magazines.
Also had nagging doubts about many things, dates, the blood issue, Michael the arc angel being Jesus?? etc etc
I could go on but it simply bores me thinking about it.

Ireland again
by AuntieJane infinally i think we are going to go to the land of eire!
who on this board lives there,.
and can give me some suggestions?

Well im not living there anymore although i am from Ireland. If you are holidaying in the west and you dont mind a driving . Worth going to Killarney in co Kerry. Although bit commercialised and a bit plastic. Killarney is a lovely place with its lakes and fells as the song goes. But you should go for a spin around the ring of Kerry. Very picturesque, but if you are doing it in winter , please drive slow. small steep roads up into the mountains.
Also if you dont mind a bit of a drive and fancy a bit of shopping . Cork city would be worth a visit. Galway is also another nice city . Just a few places of the top of my head. Oh yeah if you fancy an unusual walk across long stretches of limestone rocks. the burren would be worth a visit. Never been there but people are always telling me they thought it was very ubusual . pics on the net will satisfy curiosty.
Hope you have a nice time.

why do so many religions claim that Jesus is God?
by evergreen inhi everyone, i have often wondered why so many religions view jesus as being god.
every website i look up claiming to be the christian faith strongly believe that this is the case.. i mean the actual trinity doctrine didnt come about untill about the 3rd or 4th century and was originally the catholic church that brought it about.
although jehovahs witnesses seem to push jesus into the background a lot which is something that has always troubled me.

As for prayer, I guess that Stephen guy must have been right out of order, huh? ; Especially seeing as Jesus was allegedly in the presence of the Father (at the right hand of power) when he was being addressed with the self-same kind of words that Jesus is alleged to have used to the Father in his dying moments!
I dont deny that jesus was sitting at the right hand of power because the scriptures say that. I also dont deny that Stephen in his last moments before his cruel death prayed for jesus to receive his spirit . Remember Jesus did appear to his disciples after he was raised and Jesus did tell them he would be with them allways untill the close of the age.
So to Stephen Jesus was as real to him as when he was living on earth and still looked to him as if he was still there. He probably being an eyewtness to many of the miracles he performed.
But what i get from this passage of scripture is that because stephen was sacraficing his very life for his absolute faith in his master and teacher and with the above in mind, his last words were him crying out to his master to forgive them because as jesus had told his followers that he was given authority in heaven and on earth. ( note he was given this authority). And because he was given this authority stephen was right in asking him to use his authority to forgive them.
what i get from this is that he was really saying to Jesus remember me my lord, i am following you even unto death for the sake of truth.
As i have said before , ever since i became a JW , i was always troubled by the way the society seemed to keep Jesus in the background . Especially their teaching that Micheal the arch angel was jesus christ glorified .
I always felt strongly even as a witness that Jesus should be playing a much more important role in our lives. But the FDS has been placed in that position instead.

I can't agree with you on this. According to the gospel accounts, Jesus was protected by God several times, starting with saving him from King Herod's murder of male children. Later, ;Jesus did things like clear the money changers from the temple and to call the Pharisees offspring of vipers, to their faces in public. ;Jesus was kept from harm until God removed his protection from him in the Garden of Gethsemene.
I still maintain that if Jesus was God, he would have made it very ;clear. ;Jesus never once said he was God.
Without causing offense to anyone on this subject and whats more i have appreciated everyone taking the time to express their views, but i would have to agree with the above thought by flyinghighnow. Even when you think about Jesus praying to his father in Gethsemane . matthew 26:38-44. Three times he had to pray to God for strength to overcome any weaknesses he had about his coming death to the point where he was sweating drops of blood. luke 22 :44
Why would Jesus even have to pray to God in the first place for such strength. Surely if he was God he would have his own inner strength to go through with his coming death without praying to anyone else .
Even in the lords prayer Matthew 6:9 RSV. He told his followers how to pray "our father ........ ( not pray to me)
Other scriptures point out that Jesus was on his way to his Father and that his Father was greater than him john 14:28
The scriptures point out that jesus after his death was elevated to a higher position ( not to the highest postion) NWT or god has highly exalted him RSV to which every knee should bend. And quite rightly so! philippians 2 :9-11.
It doesnt say he became part of a triune God along with the holy spirit But both Jesus christ and the holy spirit have a major role to play in helping chritians to worship God.
From what i take from the scriptures and especially in the way i pray to God is that there is Our heavenly father god the almighty ( his name i will keep for another discussion). I pray to him directly through our lord and saviour Jesus Christ asking that Jesus come into my life and lead me in the right direction. John 14:6 RSV
Also we have Gods helper/counselor, the holy spirit to give us that further strength. john14:26 RSV
And of course i view all three as being united in the one purpose. but each being separate and distinct.
That is what i take from my reading of the scriptures and cant see anything other than that. I often wonder to the average person why God would complicate things so much to the point where everything gets fudged .Surely he would make his word simple that the ordinary person on the street could understand and worship him in the way he wished!

Hi stillawitness, im in exactly the same position , but i have decided to just fade as it would only give the "there i told you so witnesses" in the hall the satisfaction of shunning me. Thankyou for all your views on this subject.
Ozziepst ,thanks for correcting me re religions.
Spectrum- totally share your view .
Barry ,thanks for enlightening me with the 2nd century baptismal creed - very similiar to the nicea creed.
And flighinghigh now - have to agree with you that no where in the bible does it clearly and without any doubt emphasize that Jesus was or is God.
I strongly feel that certain scriptures are being used totally out of context when backing up the trinity doctrine. Leaving the whole trinity teaching in some kind of mysterious haze that ordinary individual cant truly grasp, which of course is the answer many christian faiths teach that it is simply a holy mystery?
Im sorry i am not showing scriptures on this topic. just back from night shift and seriously needing my bed. But please keep sending your views on this subject and thanks for taking the time to answer.
