I, like yourself Ade as well as many others, am also searching for the true path. I am currently studying the New testament and reading it all in its context. Yes there are things within that can be twisted to fit into the societies teachings. I have found quite a number of things that just blew mw away when i read them in context.
For eg 1 cor 11:28 says in the NWT that a man must approve himself after scrutiny before partaking of the lords evening meal. This scripture was used to back up the societies view that only anointed ones were to partake of the emblems at the memorial.
Yet when you read the whole chapter in context paticularly from verse 17 onwards, Paul is clearly talking about something completely different.
I find that because i am searching out the scriptures with sincerity of heart, i will end up on the path that i strongly feel content with. John 16:13 tells us that the holy spirit will lead us into the way of truth. I know it will. I hope you find that path. and yes you are right God is not far from each of us.
All the best

by Ade inthoughts, please indeed proofs of the true faith / church / religion .
backed up firmly by scripture .can indeed any religion be described as having no , idol worship , man made doctrine , conscience controlling of its members.

God's name ??
by Ade ini know this has probably been covered before, if so i apologize for dragging it up again.
1) is it acceptable just because its an accepted pronunciation to call god je-ho-vah
2) should the witnesses constantly be saying jehovah this and jehovah that, as it seems to me to be taking up gods name ( if it is correct ) in a worthless way.

I have done quite a bit of research on this topic and find that Yahweh is probably much more accurate than Jehovah.
I also agree with what you said about praying to God by calling him father as Jesus/Yahshua did. It is much more intimate and personal. Occassionaly i will use yahweh in my prayers but mainly use father when addressing him. -

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

Hi Jambon, in time your mrs will get used to it. I found that the first year or so was a little bit arkward but eventually we both got used to it. I was sorry to see that this article affected her so much.
My mrs just sticks articles like that in my face and says there. Ah shes a game old bird.
Things will taper out over time. she knows and trusts you. just keep showing her love.

September KM - 70 alterations in Revelation Climax Book
by dozy ini can't find a thread on this subject yet - if there is one , please delete this one.. the september kingdom ministry has a 4 page insert detailing the 70 alterations in the revelation climax book which is due to be studied at the book study shortly.
i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.
p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.

Thanks for your comments on the Jerusalem bible Narkissos, i may evetually get one. I currently have the KJV modern and old, RSV, and the american standard version.
I use the Up todate KJV version as a study bible which i can mark and write comments in.
Has anyone got the version called "the scriptures". ?
It is relatively new and produced in south africa. It uses all the Hebrew names throughout and is quite an interesting bible to refer to.
I downloaded it onto my pc through E sword which is a package programme for free. -

Badges for Conventions
by ThomasCovenant ineach year name badges are handed out at the kingdom halls for those attending the upcoming district convention.
i have always refused to wear one but this was not a major issue as i would say only about 50% wore them anyway.
however i noticed that as the years went by more and more 'brothers' were wearing them including during the lunch break in the city centre concerned.

I corinthians chapter 11 verse 17 onwards???
by evergreen inok, i was reading this chapter today in my back garden and was astounded at what i had just read.
every year as long as i have been a witness vs 28 is mentioned that a man should examine himself under scutiny before eating the bread and drinking the wine.
obviously implying that only the anointed are to partake of the emblems etc.

Honesty, i am glad you understand where i am coming from on this point.
JWFacts, i am in agreement with you in that the small flock obviously meant the ones who accepted Jesus as the messiah from the Jewish nation and then the other flock were the people of the nations or gentiles, and that the 2 would become one flock. It is so obvious.
All christians were meant to partake of the lords supper and find it fascinating though not surprised that Rutherford was behind the teaching regarding the 2 flocks as believed to be WT view today.
I do not deny that there are those chosen to rule with Christ as Kings over or possibly upon the earth as mentioned in Rev 5:10, and that the rest will inherit the earth as promised.
I am currently reading the bible through starting with the new testament and it all seems straight forward to me. But i can also see how certain scriptures can so easily be twisted to fit in to a doctrine or teaching such as this paticular one in Corinthians. -

Ok, i was reading this chapter today in my back garden and was astounded at what i had just read. Every year as long as i have been a witness vs 28 is mentioned that a man should examine himself under scutiny before eating the bread and drinking the wine. Obviously implying that only the anointed are to partake of the emblems etc.
But reading this whole passage in context, Paul appears to be explaining that the Brothers in the Corinthian congregation werent taking the Lords supper seriously and that some were eating the bread quickly as they were hungry and some were even drunk and just wanting to drink the wine. That appears to be the gist of what he is trying to say here and therefor telling them that they should treat the Lords supper in a serious way,ie remembering the Death of their saviour.
Thus he was warning them that they should examine themselves beforehand and not be in a state of hunger or intoxicated partaking in such an important event.
Also no other bible mentions the words "under scrutiny" in vs 28 as the NWT does
Does evryone else see it that way or are there other scriptures to back up the WT view that the anointed are the only ones to partake of the Lords supper (examining themselves before hand under scrutiny)? -
