What is the most objectionable thing you have heard off the platform?
by restrangled ini know many have quoted ridiculous statements from the assemblies etc., i just wonder what irked you most off of the platform in your own kh.. the one that sticks out in my mind was when we had a guest speaker on a sunday for the public talk.
i don't remember the theme but his main point was the starving people in africa did not need food.
he stated they needed spiritual food and would opt for that over a meal because they realize they could eat in the new order and there was no need to send any donations directly.

The Elders seem to get some kind of pleasure out of humiliating people. It is not enough to reproof them publically, they then have to spell out in chapter and verse what exactly that Bro or Sis got up to at he next Local needs!!!

How many of you still have friends in the org?
by Nellie ina good friend of mine moved away 10 years ago.
needless to say, we lost touch over the years, but our family always spoke of them warmly and with with great affection.. last week, their daughter looked my son up on my-space and we reconnected.
they've left the organization, basically got fed up with the hypocrasy of the membership.

Before i joined the Jdubs, i had plenty of friends. I dropped them like a hot brick when i became a witness; to be honest with you making friends was never a problem with me as i was always in the middle of it.
But then boom, my social life is gone. boom my friends are gone. boom , the congregation i was in frowned upon going out dancing etc etc etc.
I only have one friend (in the borg) who i stll keep in touch with, but he lives in a different country now. Although i still keep in touch, we are not as close.
Ah well. to hell with it, i go out for a pint with with the workmates every now and again.
As a witness you dont make a load of friends unless you are Mr or Mrs spirtuality according to the good news of the watchtower borg. Cant say much else!!!! -

Well ive heard quite a few. But one which i mentioned a while ago was when our presiding overseer, a bethalite in london mentioned that a Brother could be disfelloshipped for a having a platonic relationship with a woman. He was obviously meaning a relationshp whereby visiting each other could lead to immorality etc.
But the way he put it was " a brother can be dis fellowshiped for having a woman as a friend" and didnt explain what he was meaning. If you were a longtime witness that understood what he was trying to say you would actually know where he was coming from, but what the hell newcomers would have made of that is beyond me, paticularly the woman that had come along for the first time that day to hear his public talk. That was the last i seen of her.
The other one was not from the platform, but just as we were about to go out into the ministry for the COs visit. Our CO at the timetime was quit a character and i must admit i liked him, because he was very down to earth and could have you on the edge of your seat with his talks and his anecdotes.
The prayer had just been said and the room was filled mainly with Sisters. I cant exactly remember the flow of the conversation as it was quite a few years ago. But he was standing up and there was the usual banter going on and he suddenly came out with refering to someone "grabbing his lovehandles" whilst doing an Elvis pelvic thrust. I remember the look on some of the sister faces. One sister i will never forget was so stunned at what he said her eyes almost popped out of her head and her jaw just about hit the floor.
I actually thought it was well funny, but even i was taken aback at what he said at the time. But then looking back, the guy was just a character and cant think of anyone who will ever fill his shoes. -

Church Fathers Purposely Lied about Jesus
by gumby injosephus as most know, was a jewish/roman 1st century historian.
he was well respected by the roman community and christians were zealous readers of his works.. he is one person christians use as a solid basis for proof of jesus earthly existence.
here is a quote that is used by some christians who strongly believe these words came from the hand of josephus himself,"now, there was about this time, jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.

I find it a little bit hard to believe that so many people would lie about the Messiah. You only have to read the bible and feel a sense of peace when you read about Jesus and what he did and what he will do.
Yes i agree that deviant individuals perhaps did add or change a number of the scriptures over time to suit their teachings, but a lot of these errors have been found out when comparing them to other earlier writings. There probably were plenty more letters by the earlier Christians that for whatever reason didnt make it into todays bible, but the writings we do tell us a whole lot about our Lord. They are a comfort and a hope to all of us.
You cant simply dismiss Jesus because of a few unscupulous individuals who wanted to suit their own selfish or political agenda.
Think about it, why on this earth were so many Christians prepared to die at the hands of emporer Nero a short while after Jesus death. Was that made up to!. There is far to much evidence to simply dismiss Jesus as a made up character. -

The Bible: How and by whom was the bible put together?
by evergreen inyes, i know the old testament made up of the law(torah) and the prophets were written and handed down through time and kept by the jews,as can be seen to this day.
who put it together?
after all , wasn,t it the catholic church that kept the writings in the latin untill the time of the reformation, whereby it was only then translated into other languages?

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 6-25-06 WT Study (Survival)
by blondie inwho do the sons and daughter-in-laws represent (did they have children before the flood)?.
what does the ark represent?.
(2 peter 2:5) the true god gave righteous noah explicit instructions on how to build an ark for the preservation of life through a global flood.

enjoyed your comments blondie. It is just as you say.
My Mrs spoke to someone recently who is "inactive" and she told her how someone in the hall recently had a get to gether, you know one of those fancy type get to gethers that involve hiring a hall for dancing etc. The only ones that wernt invited were the ones viewed as weak, the ones struggling with their children to the meeting, the ones that need help but dont get any.
Some later found out that this Brother ahd organised this event and went absolutely balistic. It is a complete joke!! and then they wonder why they then end up in "bad associations" with "worldly" people. -

Shocking Announcement: Society feels Armaggedon coming this year?
by truthseeker ina rumor alert indeed, but it could be related to the distribution of kingdom news no.37, "false religions end is near.".
the following is posted from e-watchman's forum.. make of it what you will, but in light of all the rhetoric about "deliverance at hand" and "independent thinking", nothing would surprise me anymore.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1502&st=0 we posted about an announcement it was only local to our cong.
however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.

Love is eroding away in the Congo, why?
by thecarpenter inwhen i first started studying with the jehovah witnesses, although i am a technical, matter of fact type of guy, the thing that got my attention was the genuine love i saw in the congregation (this was in the early 80's).
it made such a impression on me that i ignored some of the serious questions i had about the organization and went ahead and got baptized (i figured things would get sorted out over time and decided to give the society the benefit of the doubt) .
the congregation i went to was a fireball, full of activity and good works and growing fast.

I once attended an elders and MS meeting; and the CO told us specifically not to pray for those who have been away from the meetings for a while, when opening or closing a meeting in prayer. One elder raised a question about it at the time , which i cant remember specifically, to which the CO said "why should we". "They dont love Jehovah , otherwise they would be hear, so dont pray for them".
I personally thought that it was very cold hearted of him to say that. No mention of encouraging the weak, no mention of how can we reach out to these ones about getting back to the meetings. No , now we cant even ask "jehovah" to help these weak ones to come back to the meetings.
The funny thing was not long after he said that , most of us were still praying for those who werent at the meetings , that God help these ones no matter what their reason for being away was. I guess it is only human nature to do so considering that some of these ones were usually related to us in some way.
