Hey brutusmaximus, why dont you combine your new avatar with your old one. You could have your new avatar falling into the toilet. That would be interesting lol
what has been your attitude toward religion after leaving jehovah's witnesses?.
did you search for religious truth?
scoff at religion?
Hi esw1966,
I have been in and out for some years now and like you been searching. Although i have been searching on and off the last few years, it has been the last 6 months i have been really been serious about it. The way i am doing it is firstly starting of with the correct pronunciation of Gods name- which i feel is "yahweh". This rendering is probably the most accurate.
Also, Jesus proper name in hebrew is probably (yahshua or yahushua, yeshua). Which you will probaly know means "Yah(weh) is salvation" Basically i tap in these name into the computer and see what i come up with.
I usually end up looking at denominations who will only use these name or part thereof but practice the moaic law (without the sacrifices of course). For a while i was convinced that they were onto something untill i read the book of Romans and realised that it is through Gods Grace and not works of the law that lead to salvation.
At the moment i am studying the new testament a chapter a day and find great comfort in doing this. For me it is like a plum line that helps me sort out what faith is more accurate to the teachings of the bible. I personally feel i will eventually find a denomination that i feel has the truth. In the mean time however i pray by addressing God as "my Father in heaven",(through the name of Yahshua) the same way Jesus (yahshua) did throughout all his prayers in the NT- It is much more intimate and that way i am definately not offending him by calling him a name that may not be correct (although occasionally i will use Yahweh). I also ask that his holy sprit leads me into the truth.( mentioned in the book of Romans)
Hopefully your search will lead you to what you are looking for.
Remember mat 7:7. keep asking..keep knocking..keep searching etc
I believe this to be the case as i have found more truths about the bible in the last 6 months than i ever had in the previous years.
Ps dont give up in you search! Best wishes

we always seem to get focused on the bad - and there is plenty of it for sure - and anyone who follows my posts knows i am no wt apologist by any stretch.
but focusing on the postive is a good thing in the 'moving on' process i think too.
what do you think jw's had right?.
I share greendawns view on the Trinity doctrine
Agree with the societies view about being politically neutral
Agree that our father in Heaven will intervene and bring an end to the Corruption in the earth by men.
At the end of the day they do have a lot of truths i feel comfortable with, but along with these truths are alot of false man made teachings and policies by the borg which unfortunately outweigh the truths.
late last year my husband and i, with our children, moved to a new state and decided to leave the organization after much research and soul searching.
our intent was to just fade quietly away in order to maintain certain family relationships, but thanks to a couple of militant dubs who were assigned to find out what was going on with us, we were outed.
even though we haven't made any comments other than that there are certain things we don't agree with, we have been completely shunned.
To disassociate or not? That is the question
Over the past 2 weeks i have been giving this some serious thought. For me it is not about handing in a DA letter. It is more the fact i have a number of family members who are JWs that worry me most. I fear that some of these ones who are very close family will follow their brainwashed conscience and shun me.
I do however feel that it will come to a head as i just dont get anything from the meetings. I miss so many meetings even though i had genuinly made an effort to go back for personal reasons. I want to be close to God, that is all. I can read the scriptures and they give me so much comfort. But then i attend a meeting and i feel absolutely nothing!
The fact i know so much about what has gone in their past, the fact i dont agree with them on so many of their teachings, the fact i feel a hypocrite by practicing things like birthdays is driving me to the point that as a matter of principle, i would rather be totally up front and give them a letter to dissacociate.
I am very much on the brink of doing this as i am becoming far more open in my views about their teachings in front of others. Today for example, to the horror of 2 of my close relatives i handed another relative a present with a birthday card. I was not in the least bit bothered about what they thought even though i could tell from their reactions that they wernt happy. I know i am backing myself into a corner on this isuue.
I hope one day just to come out with it and get it over with.

The "Democratic" right of a nation to determine its own future.
Ps have a good one!!!!!
jehovah or yahweh?
is it important to use "jehovah"?
or should it be yahweh?
Most Hebrew scholars believe that Yahweh is probably the most accurate rendering of his name. Yah definately being the shortened version, which is included in Hallelu(iah). Isia(iah), Jerem(iah),Elijah, Jesus(yahshua) etc.
Swap the i and j for y as it should be.
Whats more even the society in their own literature acknowledge the fact that Gods name is according to 'most' Hebrew Scholars favored as "Yahweh" (insight book)
Occasionaly whilst praying i tend to use Yahweh in my prayers, but prefer to approach him by using similiar expressions to what Jesus used by calling him Father, as it is much more intimate and that way i dont worry about calling him by a name that might not be correct
i was thinking how unnatural it is for most people to knock on stranger's doors and tell them that if they don't respond to what they were trying to get across, that they were going to be killed by god.
.....then there's the obligation to join the theocratic ministry school and go on a platform and give talks---even if you had a phobia!
.....or you're made to feel that you must answer at the meetings even if you're extremely shy.....are there other things that you can think of that made you totally uncomfortable?
I think that the question you pose is a very good question.
One of the things i felt was unfair is the requirement or guilt factor requirement to go on the TM school. You see everyone else doing it, why arent you? Yes unless you are on the school giving a talk you are "in your own mind, not spiritual". Doesnt matter if you are the shyest person on the planet; you are made to feel guilty, you feel obligated even if it is to simply read the bible on the platform.
Does that tie in with Ephesians 4:11
I always , always felt that the JWs did not appeal to the masses. Have you ever noticed or is it just me, but it only seems to keep the ones who can give good talks , The ones who can speak well , the ones who have the ability to go out and speak to people on the doors etc etc,
Where are the ordinary people, The people who are very shy and find it hard to associate with others?
The only people i ever see at the hall are the ones who have the ability to give talks, give answers etc, but i rarely see the ordinary joe Bloggs at the meetings.
I have and always will view the JW faith as a denomination that only appeals to those who fit into its exalted out of depth conditions. The rest are scared of with so many conditions , manmade laws and ridiculous policies.
hi everyone, just been reading the kjv updated version of the bible.
can anyone enlighten me as to who is the judge here?
is it christ?
Thanks Leoilea, for your insight, your a star.
so what you are saying is that it is more than likely to be God, but there is still the possibility it could be Christ.
When i read this chapter , i got the impression it was refering to Christ.
