i went to visit my parents last weekend, taking my lovely wife and her mother (who is visiting us from overseas and happens to be a sincere devout catholic and a wonderful person, and speaks almost no english).

recently my mother mentioned (via telephone) that she wished my father would buy a new computer (theirs is a vintage 1987 ibm ps/2 25 mhz) so at the last minute i decided to give them one of the old ones i have sitting around, complete with 17" monitor -- a kind of "peace offering".

Can You Picture Jesus Christ Being a Jehovah's Witness???

think about that for a moment....... if jesus was a jw(as jws claim), how would he have handled various situations??

for example, if peter denied him 3 times, what would've been different?

or if the disciples fell asleep the night before he was to die, how would a jesus christ jehovah's witness have handled it?.......you get the idea.

And don't forget the loose conduct associating with hookers and tax collectors.

I agree with Elsewhere, he would be talked to for moving ahead of the organization and not waiting on Jehovah who gives good food at the proper time. Shortly after he would be DF'd for healing on the sabbath instead of placing magazines, and not eating his fair share of donuts.

Did anyone ever have any`divine revelation' in your congregation?

i understand from one post some time back that someone begin to say that next week would be end of the world in a more or less private study.. possibly carted off to a mental hospital.. was they anyone in your congregation that had similiar `revelation'?

Why the children???

why is it that the wts seems to pick on children from such an early age?

i was reading some personal stories in the best of forum, and so many have gone through rough times as a child in the jw.

i personally remember times where i was ashamed, embarrassed, and upset about being a jw as a child.

In my opinion it is all about control and preservation of the cult. You control their thoughts and actions from an early age, when they grow they are dependant on that control and require it, crave it. Its much like the cycle of physical abuse. People who were beaten by their parents as children are more likely to abuse their own children. People who have had their every action controled as children are going to control every aspect of their own children's lives to teach them how they are to raise their children, thus preserving the cult.
