such an attack would of course result in swift and terrible retaliation and the likey annihilation of most of the arab world and then some.

whether or not that proves to be the exact scenario that's played out, it must be admitted that the climate for the sudden outbreak of a nuclear storm has never been so favorable.

It seems to me that LaRouche is doing exactly what many ex-jw's are trying to do--expose things for what they really are. I don't think that the posters here disagree that there could be a nuclear war or a collapse of the financial system in the US etc. But no one can PREDICT the time and day--only forewarn. We can choose to hide our heads in the sand, or make preparations in advance (ie. expose child molestors and false predictors of Armageddon).

But YK, you seem to me to be very fond of conspiracy theories from the world's point of view, even though you aren't technically supposed to have ANY opinion on world matters (remember? "no part of the world"). Why don't you take it one step further and research the Trinity brochure by the jw's. If you took the time to look up the quotes, you would see that they were not stated in their entirety, therefore misleading many as to their original intent. If you are going to quote things, then make sure you don't leave out pertinent details (ie. "10 years or 10 minutes...VIRTUALLY" etc.)

Why is it ok for you to use the media, but no one else?

My first Mothers Day

i've been a mom for 21 years now and am going to celebrate my first mother's day.

my oldest son is taking me out for lunch on sunday.. happy mother's day to all moms on this board.

Congratulations Tweetie Bird and all other moms here! It's nice to see everyone celebrating life. I plan on sending my mom a card despite the fact she's a witness. I'm just going to send a picture of me and my boyfriend in a handmade card with a simple message. Just because SHE doesn't celebrate doesn't mean I can't--and I know her well enough to know she'll be thrilled.

I voted today ...

i have been walking around with a sticker on my chest that announces to the world that i acted on my civic responsibility and voted today.

i have to admit that i am feeling a bit vulnerable and fighting the impulse to rip it off.

there were two issues on the ballot however that i felt it important to support.

Hey Bobsgirl! Congratulations! I have yet to do that, but it's definitely up there on my "to do" list. As far as the feelings of vulnerability, I think that the more we do that is anti-jw teachings, the quicker we will get past those feelings. It just seems like if we are at least taking steps forward, then it's harder for the borg to have a hold on us.

By the way, guess who this is--hint, I live in RI now! I love ya and sorry I missed the b-day party! Hope to see you at C's graduation!

Letting go of the side of the pool

when i was 7 years old mom took me to get swimming lessons.

one day we moved over to the deep end of the pool which i had always viewed as being as ominous as a bottomless pit.. i was terrified on the day that we had to swim from one side to the other and could barely make myself let go of the side of the pool.

i eventually did though and a couple of weeks later was jumping off the high dive into the deep end and having a wonderful time.. letting go is so very hard, especially for those of us who were raised to believe that every day was rife with disaster.

Thanks Joel and everyone else for the great reminders that all we know is right now! It's nice finally living in the present moment--not "when the paradise comes". Life is full of beautiful things, as well as the negative possibilities of war etc. We can either choose to enjoy things like flowers, animals, the ocean, people; or we can hide away thinking that "the end is coming". I personally have chosen to live each day as it comes, and to enjoy it as much as possible--even if it means standing still long enough to listen to a woodpecker on a tree.

Have you conveniently forgotten what JW's believe? That Jesus died for ALL people? That you are supposed to "love your neighbor as I have loved you"--which would mean that you would die for anyone--not just other witnesses. Interesting that you didn't remember that point, especially when it comes to people you don't agree with.

i am a new poster who is putting off their own personal story of finding this site for a while..... i find alot of people here utterly fascinating, and would like to know..... exactly what is everyones professional field of work?.

i would like to be a full time poster on this forum, but alas, the $$$$ are quite light in that field of work.. apologies if this has been asked before.. just curious.

I am a former full time nanny, now just a part time mother's helper until I decide what to do when I grow up! I also model part time at the local university for their art classes. I hope to go to school sometime soon, after I move again in a few weeks. It was great to see so many people going to college--quite a change from being told not to further your education unless it's for a jw benefit. Now we can go because WE want to--I just have to decide WHAT to do.
