One of the most emphasized methods to writing a solid research paper for school is making sure to give all the facts when quoting other sources and to include a citation of the source. This allows the reader to not only have factual and complete information but to be given the opportunity to evaluate the reliability of the information. Without citation you have no credibility because you cannot prove the facts presented. Not only did WTS not give all of the facts surrounding the news reports but as was mentioned before, they didn't cite the sources. This does not give the reader the choice to examine the facts and make their own decision. Instead they must blindly believe since they are given nothing further. Very sneaky and slimy. Anyone outside the borg would question and challenge their facts. It is sad so many in the borg don't.

Worse neighbor experiences
by unbeliever insome family moved in across the street a few months ago.
i have never talked to them.
all i know about them is what the other neighbors had to say.

My very first neighbor after I moved out was one of the worst. She apparently had a key to my apartment and was going through my stuff and borrowing whatever she wanted when I was at work. MY landlord would do nothing about it so I had to befriend her and snoop through her house until I found the key and stole it. This pissed her off and she punched fist sized dents into the side of my new car with her bare hands. There was no witness and she denied it even though her hands were swollen and wrapped as she stood in the door. Then she proceeded to harass me at all hours of the night by calling my phone and knocking on the door and running away. One night she put the garden hose under my kitchen door and flooded my kitchen. I moved a month later. Have also had the crack head, FBI raid, alcoholic brawling hillbillies for neighbors too. Lived next to a convicted murderer for awhile and a convicted sex offender too. OH and a guy that tried to commit suicide and the cops put his bloody knife on our coffee table as they sent negotiators in to talk to him.

Christmas Family Reunion Tarnished by the Borg
by karategirl inmy mother died from breast cancer less than a year after my high school graduation.
right before her illness she had finally left my abusive step-father and was close to seeing the light about the borg.
then she got sick and the elders told her she needed to return to her husband or be out of jah's favor.

I am so happy. Before I left to visit my sisters, it had come down to only three of us confirming attendance to the reunion. We were all very excited but also disappointed that my brother and youngest sister, the one still in the borg, weren't goign to make it. My lil' sis gave the excuse that she had to work. Me and my eldest sister were thinking it was an excuse because the dubs were pressuring her to not come. Well my daughter and I arrived and were elated to see my sister and her husband and son at the airport. However our middle sister had not arrived nor had anyone heard from her. We were concerned and confused. Two days later she calls to say she is on her way and will see us in five hours. It was really odd. She gets there and comes in and we all hug and cry in the foyer (it has been three years since I saw her). Then she says, "Oh by the way, I have a surprise for you guys." She opens the front door and standing on the porch is my lil' sis. I screamed and jumped up and down and clutched her until she was almost gasping for breath. And she is all grown up. It was so wonderful yet heart wrenching. The last time I saw her she was 7. She is now 17. She is a woman and she is beautiful. My mother's likeness is so apparent in her features. My brother didn't make it but us four sisters had a blast. It was awesome. Fortunately, my lil' sis does not want to get baptized and is making plans for her future that does not involve the borg. She still hasn't come to the conclusion that it isn't the truth but she does realize she will not be able to do anything for herself if she stays in. We hope she will move in with one of us after graduation. Wish I could post pics but I have to protect two of my sisters identities. It was beautiful and a dream come true. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

Dear god yes!!! I used to have nightmares about Armageddon. Still did even after leaving the organization. Up until about 5 years ago. My self esteem as a young girl was smashed especially watching my mother endure abuse in the name of being a good wife. This was of course part of being a faithful witness. Having to be the outcast constantly was so hard. To this day I have so much difficulty feeling like part of the group and fitting in. It is difficult to maintain relationships because of feeling this way. Took me a long time to think for myself. Always wanted an exact plan or process. Which made it easier for others to walk all over me. Even becoming creative and opening that was difficult for me. Always looked for a formula or needed to go off of an example. It was actually scary to make a decision on my own.

My First Time...

Yuck!!! Puking drunks suck. Although I must admit I have been the drunk and I have taken care of the drunk. We all have our moments. The important thing is to get em home and put them on their stomachs.
Better luck next time!!! Put spare bags in your car if you are the DD. They can wrap it around their faces in let it rip.

How rebellious did you get after leaving?
by JH inafter leaving a controlling sect, it?s normal to want to live ?freedom?.
what did you do to show that you were no longer under the influence of the watchtower?
did you grow a beard, start having sex with whoever, start drinking, start gambling?

I never did anything while I was still in. In fact followed the rules very closely. When I finally left my mother had died and I was finally free from my abusive stepfather. Bad combination for self-destruction.
Got in with a bad crowd and was drinking it up, smokin' weed, cigarrettes, very explorative sexually. Never became a criminal or did hard core drugs and after a short time of the wild life, got married.
Took me awhile to get angry at the org and realize it wasn't the truth so things like voting and community work and college came later.
Now I lead a very good life and take care of myself well. Have positive goals and outlook on life. Currently on a spiritual journey and exploration which is what led me here.

Say Something Jehovah's Witnessy........
by minimus ini know there's no such word as "witnessy" but this can be a fun thread.

"Why don't we turn to our Bibles and read _________" or "Let's open our Bibles for the answer to that question" (actual meaning, let's open our bibles and then let the society tell us what it means.)
As the End Draws Nearer
"I had a really encouraging experience today in the field"
"won't it be great in the New Order when we will never die"
the Youth
"We're Jehovah's Witnesses, we speak out in fearlessness, ours is the god of true prophecy, what he fortells comes to be"
"Why don't we listen to some Kingdom Melodies and sing along"
"The best way we can help people is to bring them the Good News about God's Kingdom" (answer given when I asked to work for the Special Olympics at school and was told to not get involved)

"Saved" the movie, does it remind you of any OTHER organizations?
by gaiagirl ini just watched "saved" with mandy moore and makauley culkin, about some kids in a so called "christian" high school.
some of the kids are very, very zealous, others quieter, others openly rebellious.
as the story unfolds, it becomes apparant who those are who are actually observing the teachings of jesus, and who are just giving lip service.

That's the whole point Mungo. They are the same themes because quite often in organized religion these are the things that happen.
I laughed hysterically. Yeah it was an exaggeration in that most likely each problem existed by itself and not all at once to one girl and her peers. Oh and the jewish chick said she had been kicked out of all the Jewish private schools and it was there or military I believe so she went there.
I happened to know two men that struggled with the whole gay thing and went through the same problems. Even dating girls and trying to figure it out by fornicating. In the end one left the org to live with his secret boyfriend. The other stayed in and never left home and stuffed his face until he was just as obese as his mother. My best JW friend from high school finally left after living in an abusive family her whole life, being sexually abused and being looked down upon by the dubs because she wasn't spiritual enough and was white trash. She finally began pioneering and still wasn't accepted. So her and her pioneer buddy left the org together and now are lesbian lovers. Trust me the extremes do happen.
All Christians sin and make mistakes. It takes a true Christian to admit it, learn from it, and move on. Those that obsess over their works and remind everyone how good and angelic they are all the time only go through the motions because their faith really isn't that deep. Which is why they are capable of intentionally malicious behavior such as Mandy Moore's character.

I know all the songs on the Annie soundtrack and have even, when I was younger ok, choreograped a few numbers.
I'm also still rockin with Guns N Roses and Bon Jovi. "Sweet Child o Mine" and "Dead or Alive". my hair oddly resembles bon jovi's tossled layered look. My friends tease me that I have that 80s rockstar cut.
A final and ultimate shame is I actually liked Britney Spears "Toxic". But mainly because the video had great special effects and she was a vixen surrounded by some hottie boys.
oK I mayhave revealed too much.
