  Reaching Out!

  those from the old school of jw training, do you remember the slogan, "reach out" or "reaching" out?

  reach out for priviledges in the congregation, bethel service, be a gilead missionary, a full time pioneer, 10 hr a month publisher, hmmmmm, publisher?

  Well Golf,

  Thanks, you have given me something to think about today. I went through a similar painful experience when I was about 10. My mom had 2 pioneers come and study with us when we were little. They used the old Paradise Lost book. I became a very sincere young Witness. My mom was not. I started getting rides to meetings because no one else in my family went. I had recently been begging my parents to go out to dinner as a family. I had silly dreams of a wonderful family outing (silly me). anyway, one night when I came home from the meeting I found little packages of crackers from a restaurant laying around. I remember I felt like I had been hit with 20,000 volts when I asked Mom if they had been to dinner. She had a smirk on her face when she said yes. I cried my eyes out.

  I didn't learn anything useful like you though. I just cried and grieved. Now I am 48 and my mom is in her seventies and just as cruel. I have stopped crying though and have taken my power back. No more spinning wheels in the mud for me!

  Surgery Tomorrow

  a simple tooth extraction has led to this.

  it was an upper tooth that was root canaled.

  canal went bad and i had it pulled out in about six pieces.

  i've taken a leaf from holly's book to thank your for having me on the forum - thirteen interesting days but came to realise one cannot achieve much speaking from behind a screen.

  I think it all comes down to 3rd grade wisdom, "It takes one to know one." If your heart is filled with lies and hate then you will surely find it no matter where you look.

  Personally, I have found truth, love and healing here and not to mention lots of really funny stuff like the pee thread!!!!!!!

  Do some WT phrases make you squirm?

  for me it's "the doors of the ark are closing.

  i can never forget as a child, being forced to see the graphic images in the publications showing families, mothers with little babies clinging to a rock and others drowning as the ark floats away.

  fathers shaking their fists at god for destroying their families... it's like some of the little mind control still functioning in there somewhere causing a kneejerk reaction of uneasiness.... are there any others that bug you?.

  My Mother, that sick &^%(&^$ used to love to remind us "Better is the day of your death than your birth" Imagine saying such a thing to a little kid. No wonder I never thought I was worth the paper I was printed on!
