Interesting. I've seen several threads along this line before, directed to ex-elders, but almost all of us have shunned someone at some point. (I know many of you never did, putting humanity above obedience to the bOrg -- filthy sinners!) In the same way we went along with the order to shun, elders went along with the order to DF. I feel bad about those I shunned. (Though I wasn't quite as rabid about it as some JW's are. Still, shunning is shunning.)

Tough one. If we're talking pre-op, then we're talking about a man that dresses like a woman. That would be way too freaky for me, no way.

If we're talking post-op, then we're talking about a guy that feels like he got cheated in the gender department, got handed a blue card instead of a pink one at the gender assignment desk, whatever, and has rectified the situation. That's a different question, but still pretty damned freaky.

I still don't know for sure, but I lean pretty heavily toward "No".

As others have stated, I have no problem with a person deciding to do that to themselves, just as I have no problem with a person choosing to worship a deity. But I don't want to date a theist, and I don't want to date someone transgendered.

Does God REALLY exist? (An Attempt at an Online Bible Study)

with the global village now teaching evolution as an absolute fact, and the 'creation museum' making a mockery of the bible, any bible study should begin with this question!

however, the biggest hinderence to learning truth is clinging to concepts we've accepted as 'truth' without being willing to take a closer look at other possibilities.. i ask that ridiculers have fun on other postings, so that it might be possible to enjoy comparing what we have learned, how we see things- and also share what we have found to be facts-truth!.

(and i will not "count the time", as promised; that's unimportant to me, anyhow!).

I don't think it's wise to claim I think something is bunk (e.g., the Bible) unless I have some idea what I'm talking about. I haven't studied it on its own merits since exiting the JW's, so it's possible I've simply changed who feeds me my biblical sound-bites. By listening to discussions on bible study, and on occasion participating, I buy some insurance that this isn't the case.

This is a very good point. Exiting JWs can easily feel that they know "the Bible" when in fact they only know the Watchtower's interpretation of it. (I fell into that category)

But is "Does God really exist?" a topic for Bible study? I mean, doesn't the idea of studying the Bible (with a religious, let's-see-what-it-really-says intent) presuppose that the god it represents exists? That question is more philosophical than biblical. Once you have a personal decision on the likelihood of god's existence, THEN you're ready to study the Bible and see if he's behind it.

Just my opinion.

Also in my opinion, no, God doesn't exist. No Bible god, no non-bible god, no First Cause god, in ascending order of probability.

The Hyena - Testament to a Grand Creator! No, wait....

what a masterful example of jehovahs's loving kindness and wisdom is the hyena.. most carefully jehovah designed the birth canal of the female hyena to abruptly do a 140 degree turn just before the normal place of exit for the birth canal and change direction back to the head of the mother.

the birth canal then ends in what is generally referred to as a female pseudo-penis, a narrow tube exiting the body exactly where the male penis does.. .

when the young hyena mother first gives birth, most times the young get stuck around the bend or lower down in the tight "penis", where they suffocate and die.
