>> I just read through your post and haven't read any of the other commenst but I feel safe to say that the others have told your to drop this jerk and run
I did read the other comments and found it impressive that there was not one poster that said anything other than "drop this guy". This is a very diverse group of people with varying backgrounds and experiences. In all of that cross-section of humans, NOBODY thinks this guy deserves another moment of your life.
Run, Em'. You'll love again, and next time it might be someone that actually deserves it.

Does evolution destroy the fall and by consequence sin and the cross?
by Qcmbr inif we postulate that creation in the six day magic rendition of genesis is tosh and replace it with evolution how does that effect the concept of the fall?

Am I being dumb?
by bluebell ini really and truly believe that my father did not abuse either of my two younger sisters, just me.
my one sister was abused by my brother, which makes me think he was abused so as to act like that.. i left the jw's after finding he could get responsibilities again and because i realised that i would always be viewed as bad association no matter how hard i tried because i just didn't fit in.. i never wanted to take it any further than the congregation because i did not want to rip my family apart.. but if i had a child i would not let him alone with them.. can someone just abuse one victim (maybe two if my bro was abused as i think he was)?
or do they always abuse more?.

Sorry Blue, I thought it would be easy to look up a statistic about the likelihood of an abuser abusing only one child, or one gender of children, in his family. Turns out it wasn't. I couldn't find anything on it. Hopefully someone more in touch with the stats can find you something.

Birthdays and Job
by emptywords inthe societys stance on birthdays is either blatantly a lie, or a lack of bible knowledge on the part of the governing body!
while still attending at the kingdom hall i read job 1:4 where jobs childreneach had celebrations in his own day.
then read in job after his kids died and all his possession were lost where job cursed his own day.

When I left JW's, birthdays was a topic I researched thoroughly. Here's a list of the Watchtower's reasons for forbidding birthdays, and why they are bogus:

Timbits used in drive-by harassment: RCMP
Police in western Newfoundland said drive-by pranksters chose unusual objects to throw at an unsuspecting pedestrian: Timbits.
RCMP in Deer Lake said a passenger in a vehicle threw the popular Tim Hortons snacks at a woman who was walking on Wight's Road early Tuesday morning.
The pedestrian, 20, was not able to read the vehicle's licence plate. She described the car as bronze-coloured and resembling a Trans Am.
The incident happened around 1:30 a.m.
As you can imagine, the police are very upset at this waste of perfectly good donuts. One RCMP officer (who asked that we not reveal his name [It's Barry Lumford]) said, "It's all fun and games, until it's 2am and we're stopping for Timbits. The first time they say, 'Sorry we're all out, some punks just bought the last of 'em,' you can bet the entire force will be brought to bear on these villains."
But remember -- Timbits don't hit people, PEOPLE hit people.

Are you a participant in, or an observer of, humanity?
by AlmostAtheist ini was talking with a coworker today about the iraq war.
she is furious about bush's invasion and occupation of another sovereign nation, and much more so over what she sees as the murders of the civilians involved.. with the same set of facts available to both of us, i found our dissimilar reactions to it interesting.
i am amused by it, and she's outraged.. we discussed why that might be the case.

I wasn't trying to say you are being selfish for taking an observer position.
No offense taken, I'm not trying to judge either position (or any gradient thereof) as good or bad. Just gathering thoughts on the topic.
Thanks for the clarification though!
