Sometimes, you think you just couldn't be more proud of the apostate community...
Then a thread like this comes along and you realize you really can. :-)
JH, you are the MAN! What a great calendar this would make - "The Harlots of JWD"

i've been around for awhile, but never registered for fear of giving my personal information (yes, that's how much the borg scares me.
i was raised in the org, and left when i was 18. i realized that every religion firmly believed that they were correct, and that forced me to re-evaluate the religion on its merits, as opposed to my insistent belief.
needless to say, i saw the man behind the curtain.
>>I'm walking a fine line between mere disinterest and apostacy. I have no connection with any JWs but I live in constant fear of being disfellowshipped in absentia, which I've heard is all the rage these days. What is my best ploy to keep the option of speaking with my family open, while keeping my distance from the elders? Thanks in advance! Dehliah.
The elders seem to accept "depression" as a reason to stop going to meetings, not taking their phone calls, etc. They know they can't DF you for it, and they know they can't help you with it. So they more or less leave you alone to deal with it.
Will you see them again, so you can tell them how depressed you are lately?
Of course, your family will believe you're depressed too. Is that ok with you? Just keep it in mind.
Glad you posted! Hope you get lots of replies!

i picked one out that kinda sucks.. i should be "livingdeadgirl" that would fit.
it's also a really great rob zombie song..
Yeah, I gotta say, "Dinah" rocks. It's just so "there", ya know? Sweet....

i had such a shock today, its almost bizarre, my son was involved in an accident at work.
he's an ironwoker, which means he works the high steel on skyscrapers and such.
today he was working and tied his safety harness off to the cable as usual, and went to work.. lots of times they have to lean out and rely on that harness to keep them secure while they reach out to do whatever the hell it is they do (best mom's don't always know all), and today his dumbass bosses didn't have the cable attached on one end.
((((Sherry)))) OMG. I'm such a realist and so "in control" of my emotions -- except with my kids. I can't allow myself to even think about scenarios in which they get hurt or it just cripples me. I can't even begin to imagine where you must be emotionally/mentally.
I'm glad it turned out as well as it did.
And your point is so good. Every person shunning a family member should have to read your post.

hey all, .
i can't sleep tonight for some reason, and so i took a whack at correcting some of the more glaring typos on the watchtower's site.
(for instance, they keep misspelling "lie" as t-r-u-t-h. weird...) anyone wanna double-check me, here?
Thank you all for your comments, especially Honesty's DIShonest suggestion! If I but had the know-how...

the generation seeing the sign .
' previously, this journal has explained that in the first century, "this generation" mentioned at matthew 24:34 meant "the contemporaneous generation of unbelieving jews.
not the whole magazine, but this is the new light article.. .
I couldn't bring myself to read it all, but I was amazed to see the admission that they were wrong. "This journal said [this], but we have no doubt it's really [that]". I couldn't help but giggle at the idea of there being "no doubt" about this interpretation. I'm sure they had no doubt about their last two interpretations of "this generation"!
Perhaps their two previous failed interpretations are what qualify them for presenting a third, ala OBVES reasoning?
Thanks for the download!

Putting them on and walking to Columbus, Ohio would probably do the trick. I'll even offer you a beer when you arrive!
Just tryin' to help... ;-)

a consideration of the history of the governing body.
the very first legal governing body of (jehovah's witnesses) bible students were seven persons which included pastor c.t.russell, his wife maria, and his controversial ward, rose ball.
five men and two women.
>>You had to be tough, feisty and cocksure to make it through those years. Those who did and lived to tell about it were the hardcore evangelists who went to extremes to bring in the next generation of misfits, upstarts and know-it-alls who would expand the membership from thousands into millions worldwide.

this is the third elder that tells me that the body of elders will recommend me as an elder in the next visit of the co.. what do you think i should do?
some facts:.
i am still 'in' because of my family.i am ms.i am doing 10+ fake hours (well, some months it is fake), so they see my "spiritual" progress.-ootb.
Alot more would be expected of you as an elder. Talks, assignments, etc. You probably feel like you sacrifice enough of your life to the 'tower, do you really want to give them more?
But on the other hand, you WOULD be in a beautiful position to help others.
As stated, it's your call. Hopefully various perspectives will help you make it.
