"Deer Hunting With Jesus", Joe Bageant -- good, but in small doses. I'm crawling through it.
"Next", Michael Crichton -- Good, like anything else he writes. I'm tearing through it.

i am reading buried alive: the terrifying history of our most primal fear, it's really cool

Wasa, your revised version is MUCH better in my opinion. I was afraid you'd made it longer, but it's still short. The text you threw in adds so much value.
Good luck with this, it's exactly what you were trying to make it -- poignant, sharp, clever.

recently i went to the circuit convention.
an illustration was mentioned that really made me mad.
they said that "you can see a 5 stories high building.
Imagine a rickety, rotten ladder. Every year out of high school without going to college is like another step up that ladder. Do you really want your children to climb that ladder? Of course not! So send them to college!
I was over a year out of the bOrg before I realized that being able to "illustrate" something didn't make it true! I know that sounds incredibly dumb, but then, I am incredibly dumb, so...

according to the wbts, common sense is quite uncommon in today's world.
http://www.watchtower.org/e/20050515a/article_01.htm.
they then go on to give 3 simple steps to obtaining it:.
LOL! The poet is Henri-Frédéric Amiel and I doubt he would have considered himself a poet, though surely a writer. It's not surprising they did the ol' "..." clip-job on his actual quote. He said:
"Common sense is the measure of the possible; it is composed of experience and prevision; it is calculation applied to life."
Wouldn't want the words "possible" and "calculation" being slipped into the mind of a 607/Noah'sFlood believing dub, now would we? ;-)

i know that i don't created a lot of topics but i've been thinking about my feelings towards jw teachings and what i have learned so far from jwd and a couple of other sites.
i always found it hard 2 dismiss what i have learned from the kh and on apostate sites i feel like i'm in a cognitive dissonance, which means uncomfortable tension that may result from having two conflicting thoughts at the same time.

Sorry I can't find anything better than this, but here's an article that sort of addresses it:
http://www.ccg.org/english/s/p220.html
Essentially, you can't just grab the last few letters from a word and call it a suffix, then find a real suffix and assume they are the same thing.
Like my name for instance is "David". You could assume it's "Dav" and the suffix "id", meaning "in the state of". Then go looking for some prefix or root for "Dav" to figure out what state I'm in. In truth, though, it's derived from Hebrew and doesn't contain the suffix "id".

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this one's a coincidence. I'll do some poking about and see if I can verify that, but I'm like 95% certain.

...that term anymore, so are not disfellowshipped any more, but just no longer a witness, what is that?
i wonder what word it will become to describe these ones and the action taken?
we don't have one yet, but most dubs i know are still saying "he's disfellowshiped" oooo scary.
They used the word "disfellowshipped" in this article on their web site just last year:
http://www.watchtower.org/e/20061201a/article_01.htm
Edited to add: Ironically, it's called "It Pays to Be Honest"! :-)

>>Now they have created a climate where it is assumed that someone has been disfellowshipped even if they disassociated.
From first hearing about this, I've believed that was the idea. If you suddenly hear that Brother Pillar and his whole family have "disassociated", you may well wonder what they know that you don't. But if you hear that they are "disfellowshipped", well, then it's obvious they got caught up in one of Satan's many snares.
By taking both terms away, it allows the default value of "disfellowshipped" to apply to all. Keeps the "why did they leave?" questions from coming up.
Just a guess, of course.

No offense, Wasa, but I had the same reaction. I thought, "Man, there is only going to be a tiny group that knows what this is about."
But, if your intent was to "throw it out there" and let the curious do some research, then maybe it's a win. It's super-short, so even if a person didn't care, they'd still bother watching it. And if they get their interest piqued, then they can do some research and discover the rest themselves.
Kinda reminds me of the "607 BCE?!?" billboards.
Good luck with it!
Dave
well it looks like this site is a real melting pot, a broad spectrum of views and beliefs.
for sure there are many disaffected ex jws.
so in as few words as possible, preferably not more than one sentence, how would you describe yourself spiritually?
