>> I hope you dance
Good timing, JGnat, I was just thinking about this song today! Thanks for the link!
Dave
i have always been a sucker for a good soppy love song, .
last night i was wading through my huge vinyl collection, pulled an album long-not heard and spun this track on the rack.
though penned almost forty years ago, i have to say, it is still a very handsome song indeed.. coming back to me.

i was just thinking if i had 365 friends and spent just one day a year visiting each one at their home for meals, staying overnight, etc., i would never have to work!
and seeing them only once a year, they would not get 'sick' of you or be burdened either!
would anyone volunteer to be my friend?
A lazy bum of a friend? Who WOULDN'T want one? ;-)
Sorry, but the part of lazy bum is played by me. Obedient sycophant is available, however!
(Actually, you're welcome to bum a day's food and lodging from me -- pop on by!)
Dave
all my deep south friends stay safe.. it's been really warm today.
we have severe storms coming in tonight and a forecast for possible snow tomorrow or wednesday.. does god need prozac or what?.
.
We have odd weather this week, too. It was warm and comfy yesterday and today (63?), then predicted to be in the 30's tomorrow with snow and rain. The other day it was crazy cold AND foggy. I don't recall cold and fog together, and thought at the time that if *I* were god, this is precisely the sort of day I'd bring Armageddon on. Everyone's already depressed, so why not?
Spring is coming, right? RIGHT?!?!?
Dave
the society reports millions of hours spent in the field service yearly.
when you were active did you follow theocratic instructions carefully and faithfully?
did you stop for a coffee break and keep your time going?
I usually started my time when the first person in my group made their first attempt to reach someone. So the first door, generally.
If I (or someone in my group) gave a tract to the person running the yard sale, I kept my time going. ;-)
If a coffee break was really just a coffee break and not "brunch", I kept my time going.
And of course, if I made a call on one side of the territory, then drove 45 minutes across the territory to another call, I counted all that time.
Agreed -- time spent in actual preaching is only a tiny fraction of the hours turned in.
Dave
here's mine:.
i've fallen down many times, but i've always managed to arise.. i know the day is coming when i will fall down and stay down until someone lifts me.. sylvia.

Plane crashes on an island, but many survive.
Coincidences come too rapidly.
The island itself is the key! No wait, they're not alone.
Will they get home? Yes -- some.
>> I saw her pick you up and put you in her book bag the other day.
The point is, she took me home! ;-)

It's the hair. An easy mistake to make.

Look Sis', yer only a year older than me. So don't start with this "little brother" crap! But anyway, here I am!
Dave
i'm considering reading this book and was wondering whether anyone from jwd has already read it and would like to share their thoughts on it.
being ever-the-skeptic, i'm intrigued by a philosophy that appears to embrace reality and the here-and-now, but i'm wary of the new-age-y-sounding-ness of it as well.
what do "believers" think of the book?
I'm with Void -- The Power of Now is a little hard to get through sometimes with the New Agey feel it seems to exude. His references to the Bible are a little creepy for an ex-JW. But all taken for all, it's well worth your time to read. And yes -- meditate on. (Seriously)
Dave
?..because if you don`t,your going straight to hell!
!....there`s no beer in hell!
!..and..they play the tune "aiky breaky heart" all day long..it never stops!
>> Jesus said you need to have the heart of a child when you come to him because all this going back and forth is ridiculous. A child believes what you tell them open heartedly
I thought it was the child's humility -- not his gullibility -- that Jesus was highlighting. Am I wrong on that?
