Letter From President George W. Bush

ok so maybe i'm being played but believe it or not, i just got a letter from the president, that's right, the president of the united states of america!!!

he was thanking many of his constituents for supporting him in his campaign.

and get this, unlike the the problems that are resulting from donald rumsfeld's not taking the time to sign the letters, notifying their loved ones of the soldiers deaths, this appears to be written out in his own personal handwriting.

Just a few questions about stamped signatures.

Isn't this exactly what the Watchtower Society does? I believe the signature changed over the years. Does each new president change the signatures? I knew from branch instructions years ago in Canada that only the branch servant, or whatever she/he be called now, is the only one in possession of the stamp and all mail that goes out other than unsigned stuff passes by his desk.

Now regarding Bush baby, as well as other politicians, they want to thank their appreciative constiuents. Make them personal as possible.

So, I ask,

How are fonts made up for the computer. Why can't the president's minions take each letter of his writing and make up a font for it. including his signature. Facts about Santa's helpers could be collected and included in a form letter and sent out.

So Shiela, someone really did appreciate and acknowledge your support.

I along with the others don't believe it came from the Texas head honcho himself, no more than I believe, Nathan Homor Knorr personally fired me out of a missionary home for not following the recommendations of the Zone servant.

So once again it is rationality or faith, feel free to pick one or the other or both.

This thread also reminded me that the Chinese have been aware for centuries that animals have fore knowledge of earthquakes. I typed a search into Google under words: tsunami earthquakes animals, quite a few sites showed up. A good one is:

This web site is so busy that they ask not to download to save band width.

One thing good that will result from this disaster is that countries will search greater ways to forewarn earthquakes and tsunamies .

Another strory that I read once, but I have forgotten the source, is of a Shaman chief, who was out in a dugout canoe, diving for shellfish, rose from a dive, and drove his crew to paddle for shore with all their might. One older paddler died of a heart attack. They barely made it and warned the islanders.

I assume that under water he felt vibrations that indicated a tsunami was immanent.

I do believe that you have strayed away from the sound teachings and admonitions of Jehovah's mother organisation. From your comments it seems that, rather than making wise use of the time left before blood and guts lay rotting over the face of the earth, you are pursuing unprofitable pursuits.

What are you doing wandering around shopping centers? Are you Christmas shopping, ringing jingle bells for Sally Ann? Or are you making wise use of your time, standing statuesque, petrogyphic, displaying the Watchtower magazine for the glory of God's name?

Are you turning to the science of the world, becoming a biologist, studying caterpillars? Have you collected a whole tubfull? What will you do when they all turn into colorful butterflies, and infest your premises like locusts.?

It seems that you have become a happy unhappy complainer. Decades ago the fadeful a da greed slave have predicted and anticipated long in advance, that your nefarious attitude would become manifest in never ending last days of our generation.

Drop everything you are doing and search immediately for the Watchtower magazine from decades ago with the article entitled UNHAPPY COMPLAINERS. my married daughter is a jw and lives a considerable distance from me.

not having a lot of contact with her because of the organization's policies, i was unaware of her interest in poetry.

she submitted a piece which was published in a poetry book recently and i got a copy of the book.. the only thing is, i do not know what the meaning might be in the words, and if they relate at all to her witness upbringing or not.

I find this a very sad poem. I agree with many of the thoughts written above. I hope I can shine some light on the words also. DOES IT HAVE TO MAKE SENSE TO YOU? (TITLE) Does the words of this poem have to make sense to you, the reader. Does my (the writer) demeaner, mood, sadness, isolation have to have meaning for you?

WORDS SAY NOTHING Do not give me words of sympathy, they are empty: they will miss the mark.

LOOKS SPEAK TELLING LIES Do not give me feigned looks of sympathy, concern or reprimand, they are lies.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN? What does the words of this poem mean, you the reader ask. What does it mean, those of you, my acquaintances, friends, relatives or whoever ask.

World War 1 and 1914

how did it just so happen that a world war took place in the very year that russell had attached so much importance to?

i realize that he expected 1914 to see the end of the world's governments, and of course that didn't happen, but it still seems to be quite remarkable that this war happened that very year ... a war that would later be construed to be the fulfillment of jesus' prediction in matthew 24:7.. the explanation given on the e-watchman site is that satan deliberately caused the war to happen so as to mislead jehovah's witnesses into thinking they had actually seen the fulfillment of bible prophecy, in order to make them think that jesus had returned invisably.. any ideas?.

There is a prophecy regarding 1914 that is far more accurate than anything that Russell said.

I asked if anyone who knew German could look up some information for me, but no one responded.

If you type in Google search engine: Stormberger 1914, you will get many references to his prophecy.

Stormberger, a humble Bavarian farmworker, two hundred years before 1914 made some remarkable predictions regarding the twentieth century. Because he predicted German losses much of his writings were destroyed by Hitler. My request for someone to translate German was to research further his writings.

My post in the the thread, regarding German ancestors in America, had this purpose: If HItler had destroyed much of these writings, then may be there exists traces of it from German immigrants in America. Many German immigrants had settled in Pennsylvania. Perhaps Russell had some contact with 1914 predictions through predictions brought over from Germany from before.

I hope someone who is a better researcher than I am, can come up with further details.

I always thought it was religion with an American flavor.

Over the years in many other lands, Russia for example, the JWs were accused of spreading American ways of life. The WT never took these accusations seriously.

For example, when Russell started, much of the American community was farming communities. Travelling salesmen in wagon caravans roamed the land, selling everything from snake oil and cigar store indians. The inhabitants also had a craving for obtaining information from books. So Russell sent out colporteurs to peddle books.

To this day the WT blindly follows stupidily. holding fast to the sacrament of going door to door and peddling books replacing the natural easiest method of communication which is effortless two way conversation between individuals.

Many years ago, two missionaries, Jones and King, were arrested in China for insisiting on going door to door. If they had not stubbornly persisted in going door to door the message could have spread far more effectively it they had just proclaimed their religion by '"causual witnessing" by word of mouth, from family to family. Other religions, for example the Pentecostals, have taken root in China, far more effectively than the Witnesses. It was the same during the Stalin years in Russia.

No, the Witnesses had to cling to door to door and place literature, printed from America.

Good news ( bad news also) does not take effort to spread.

There are also many other American "in your face" methods and doctrines that the Witnesses have agressively forced upon other nations that were countrary to the culture and environment of those areas.

Two faced lying hypocrites

it announces shane brady of georgetown (bethelite) as the winner of the probone award for 2004. i'll let the announcement speak for itself.. .

what burns me is that the brady is on a vow of poverty, and gets his marching orders from bethel.

Nomination Procedure

It would be interesting to find out who provided the three letters of support from CBA members. Are they other WT lawyers such as Glen How &Associates?

Recently it has come to my attention that Lawrence Hughes' lawyer was making inquiries as to the relationship between Glen How& Associates and the Canadian branch of the WT Society. It seems they wanted this information for the ongoing civil litigation that is going on.

My question is: Have other WT lawyers who are members of the CBA recommended Shane Brady for the pro bono award in order to distance the WT from any suspicion of behind the scenes influence in the Bethany Hughes case? I cannot believe that any lawyer working to promote the beliefs of a religious organisation and being paid expenses to do so should be considered as working pro bono for the general welfare of the public.

Franz - Schnell

many times on this board people post to say a factor in their leaving the wt was having read ray franz book(s) - many years ago william schnell published a book - 30 years a watchtower slave - have never seen this book but was wondering - has anyone read it ?

was it as effective as crisis of conscience in exposing the myth of "the truth"?

- did it have an imact when it was publised?

I too read this book when I was still a JW. At that time my thoughts were that he was quite nationalistic about his German origin and the work of the org in Germany. It is true, as he states in his book that the Germans are experts in organization. I wonder if Nathan Knorr had this ability to organize from German descent. I know that Knorr made clones of some who had German names and probably were of German origin although born in America.

A second point that caught my attention was that he criticized the Watchtower for becoming book publishers and commercializing the distribution of books. Yet Schnell, even while he was a JW became a distributor of books and Bibles and made quite a successful commerce of it.

I have a copy of the book and since this thread has appeared I am re-reading it and when I am finished, I will post any further observations. I find that Schnell gives a lot of his own opinions on events of his era. He claims that Rutherford had a game plan from the beginning regarding all the events that took place. However, I find his book very revealing in spite of his bias. It presents the atmosphere of the Rutherford times.

As to comparing Franz and Schnell?s books, what for? Sour grapes and peaches.

I believe that Schnell spent the remaining part of this life in the Okanogan in British Columbia. I will try to find someone who knows more of his latter days and can fill us in.
