a jw i know i very fond of telling people that he read apostate stuff in the early 80's and that when he later came into the turth it was proved to him that it was all lies ( the apostate info that is).
i've always wondered what it was he read, and how it could have been refuted by the dubs?.
and no, i've got no way of asking him, not without landing myself in hot water.

Just Human,
Reading your account, it seems that your civil rights have been violated. You did and said what you did at the time was appropriate, under the circumstances.
If you feel that you should pursue some action to reduce impact on yourself for their actions, here are some examples of what you can do.
Write a formal letter to your JW relative and send copies to all if possible of the twenty JWs that were there. Send copies to their elders, and send a copy to the Society.
Find civil rights organizations that may give you some free advice. Go public.
Write the school. If it is run by JWs all the better. I am sure many here on this board, including myself could help you with a letter.
They slap you down, then they expect you not to cry or even say ouch.

ever feel like you just wanna give up?
i'm losing my job at the end of this month.
because of the financial situation in the world, there's a hiring freeze on both internally and externally and hardly any positions are coming up.
Mary,
From reading your account it seems to me someone is on a power trip, and it is not you. Someone delights in putting one down for trivial, meaningless reasons to enhance their own position of authority.
Turn the situation around. If you were interviewing someone, would you "nit pick" punctuation marks and verb tenses to show they are not qualified? Would you not show some compassion during these tough times towards those who missed out for the job. The fact that the interviewer only could find a couple of very minor points to disqualify you shows that you did well in the interview. If there were more serious faults with your qualification they would surely have been mentioned.
How do I read what you call serious "faux pas"? You say you are leaving your job at the end of the month. You give two qualifications in the past tense, nothing wrong, they are previous qualifications. You give one in the present tense, because you are presently employed until the end of the month. You unconsiously put semi-colon at end of a list of qualifications, would indicate to me that you realize you have other qualifications but they have slipped your mind for the moment.
Losing a job, losing a loved one is a kind of dying. Depression is a dying, a sinking down. If there is a sinking, realize there is a promise rising also.
It has been a tough winter this year where I am at. Last few days we have we have had wind, rain, sleet and snow. The robins are back, they are toughing it out, puffing out their feathers to keep warm.
They are surviving, so will you.

Snowbird,
I am glad to see you are not waiting for the weather to change. I have been waiting for the snow to go.
Ataloa,
Your post brings to my mind this poem, as I remember it,
Flower in a crannied wall,
I pluck you out of crannies
I hold you here root and all
and all in all,
If I could understand it,
I would know what God and man is.
Sometimes we have to be rooted in unrootedness.

I just realized that if I was really waiting for 4:28 am, like we wait for midnight on New Years Eve, then 4:28 am always exists somewhere on earth at any moment.
Priest73,
If you heard a loud bang of an accident outside, you would stop waiting.
Do we have to wait? Is it necessary?

maybe i have ranted on about this before -.
but in view of galatians 1: 8, i want to just clarify in my mind what this passage is actually saying.. my angle this time is in relation to romans 11, where paul says that the promises to the jews under messiah's reign would be fulfilled.. when this epistle says not to greet a brother who denies christ coming in the flesh -.
what exactly is he referring to?.
Here are some alternative thoughts on 2 John 7.
Some so called Christions were not acknowledging that Christ must show up in thebeliever's own flesh. The flesh here is not the flesh of Jesus that they were denying. Even Tacitus and Joshephus, historians of that time, recognized he came in the flesh.
If someone wants to associate and fellowship with followers of Christ and at the same time pursue the lusts
of the flesh, then one should not say a greeting to him, such as well- come, glad to see you, fair-the-well, or Good-bye (God be with you) etc.
Romans 13:13,14 KJV
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh,
to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].
Also, Gal. 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

this may be a non-starter as a thread, because of the way i feel.. if you are still a believer in jesus, you may have joined another religion or group,i do not feel inclined so to do,i feel that all organized religion has error in it,and is made by men for men.
also as i am trying to "fade" there are dangers,if i was seen attending.. however,i do feel the need for spiritual association, and especially i feel the desire to share in the lords supper and drink the wine and eat the bread.. any ideas on how to do that without going to a church etc ?.
crazy i know, but that is where i'm at ,right now.
The Man said: Where two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst,
That's all the it takes, big numbers are not necessary.
If I experience the reality of what the bread and wine stand for, why do I need the symbols?

th is an interesting point.
apostates always bang on about watchtower double speak and the way the society twists words, investing them with mind-control triggers but rarely do we hear about censorship by omission, the words jw's can't speak.

When I went to Gilead School, the students assigned to mark test papers were instructed not to mark wrong anwswers with an X.
It is the sign of the cross, you dummy.
Correct anwsers were marked with "ticks" and wrong ones were marked with "zeros"
In the new world I wonder how they will mark railroad cattle crossings.

i read here sometime in the last week or so (now i can't remember where though) that when knorr was the president of the watchtower society a benefactor would give him $20,000 every year!!!!.
but when fred franz became president, for some reason this benefactor only gave him $17,500 a year.. is this true?.
does anyone remember the thread here where this information was posted?.
I went to Gilead School when it was at South Lansing in the class of 59/60. Also in that class was a charming French Canadian girl in her thirties, who was a close friend of mine. The farm servant at that time, I forget his name but it starts with a G, was single and some years older. The Gilead library was in a separate building maybe about seventy yards a way from the main building. On the second floor of that building were self contained living quarters, two appartments I believe. One was the quarters of the farm servant, where he could invite his future wife. In the basement was a closed garage. Guess who used the second apartment, came in on weekends, parked his car out of site in the basement garage, and had undisturbed private quarters, with no one knowing he was there except the farm servant, and my friend, who told me when he was there. Oh, I forgot to tell you his name, Nathan Homer Knorr. Ya, I know, I know, he needed some privacy.

johannes wrobel, the founder of the watchtower history archives in germany, responsible for the stand firm-video and the stand-firm-exhibitions resigned in november 2008 and left the german branch office.
he was also the responsible person for many of the wt sponsored websites on jw in the 'third reich'!.
there are no further details known yet but this could be big news!.
The Watch Tower would use a portion of the Settlement Fund to support its ongoing research and archival work on the Holocaust and presentations of its findings. It would devote any allocated monies solely to Holocaust education and the remembrance of the prisoners who bore the purple triangle, which represented the Jehovah's Witnesses. Watch Tower proposes to establish a legal entity to make cash payments and in-kind distributions to needy Jehovah's Witness class members.
This quote is taken from the above Mad Apostate thread, under the heading: Watchtower proposal.
