  just thought i'd share this email, i recieved.

  in light of the many perversions and jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: this is not intended to be a joke, it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.. .

  billy graham's daughter was interviewed on the early show and jane clayson asked her "how could god let something like this happen?

  I agree with what was said. I don't agree with the way the Christian Right would deal with society's ills. You can't legislate morality. The goals of the Grahams and other Christian Righters aside, they do make some very valid points.

  Madeleine Murray O'Hare complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children . And we said OK. Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. And we said OK. Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents. And we said OK. Then some wise school board member said, let's give our sons all the condoms they want so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school. And we said OK. Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. And then someone else published pictures of nude children and then further again by making them available on the Internet. And we said OK, they're entitled to free speech. Then the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes. And we said it's just entertainment, it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead.
  
  Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

  When someone stands up and encourages traditional values these days they are immediately villified as Nazi, Fascist, intolerant, racist, bigot, hate-monger, close-minded, etc.

  The intolerance is from the other side. The intolerant ones are those who tell parents and schools not to teach abstinence to their kids. The intolerant ones are the ones who want to put a titty bar next to the Babtist Church just to affirm their right to free speech. The intolerance is just as much on the liberal left as it is on the Christian right, and the liberal left is doing a lot more harm than good these days.

  is the special assembly day.

  i attended the sad in brooklyn this weekend and thought you might enjoy some of the highlights.. the morning began with two "telling" illustrations.

  The story of the dub college graduate working at McD's makes about as much sense as a football bat. Employers (at least around here) are dying for good help. Overqualified? They'll pay for that. Underexperienced? You can learn. Now maybe it isn't that way everywhere and I'm just going by my own industry (auto repair).

  What you had there was a theocratic enforcer laying down the law about higher education. And it really pisses me off to think that so many dublings are gulping that crap down. Someone should remind them that reading the Awake! is just as good as a college education so they shouldn't read too many or they'll be overqualified. (gag!)

  Racing!!!

  i went to the national 100 dirt track races in alabama sunday and what a blast!

  my older brother raced in the enduro class, but didn't make it past qualifying.

  oh well, he'll have his sportsman (late model) running for next year.

  I went to the National 100 dirt track races in Alabama Sunday and what a blast! My older brother raced in the enduro class, but didn't make it past qualifying. Oh well, he'll have his sportsman (late model) running for next year. They also raced pony class, which is 4-cylinder cars mostly mustangs but there was a Volkswagon Rabbit that came in 5th in the qualifying race. Anyway in the pony class there was a 12-year-old kid out there racing. I was cheering for him but he didn't place high enough in the qualifying race. Bet he had a blast tho!

  Oh and the main race was awesome. Super late models, 25 on the track, 100 laps. Forget NASCAR, dirt track racing is way more fun.

  What really irritates you?

  i'm just about to tuck into a $100 meal when some ignorant b*****d lights up.

  when nobody lets me out of the side road onto the freeway.

  Congregation get-togethers

  did your hall ever organize times for the congregation to do activities?.

  about every 6-9 months, mine would have a congregation picnic.

  people would bring food, and we would play a softball game.

  In our old congregation (Fort Valley, GA) we used to have them all the time. Cookouts, football games, softball games. Always a blast because everyone was welcome. Young, old, black, white, come out and have a ball. Even elderly Brother Skwarlo would join in sometimes, but always dressed in meeting clothes which he didn't mind getting dirty.

  Then we moved to Perry, GA. We tried a few times but it just didn't work. That was too much like having fun which was a no-no.

  Idiot drivers who pay more attention to their cell phone conversation than driving, and sometimes end up going too slow in the left lane.

  Traffic lights that are very close together and out of sync. I have to deal with a group of 5 of them on my way to and from work. They're not on timers, they're all triggered by vehicles on the side streets. That may have been fine 10 or 15 years ago, but traffic on that street is now very heavy and there is a constant flow coming off the side streets. Which means stopping at one light, taking off when it turns green, having to stop at the next one less than 100 feet away, and repeat the process for the other 3 lights.

  People who play the lottery in convenience stores and hold up the line while they read off a list of numbers instead of using the playslips. I usually say something when that happens like "this ain't a casino" or "there's other people in line here".

  When I'm in uniform in a store or restaurant and people start asking me about a problem with their car or worse want me to come outside and look at the car right then and there. I just have to bite my tongue and go along with that one because if I'm in uniform I'm "representing the company" as the brass puts it. Besides, I can get them to come to the shop and spend money so....

  Radio Shack wanting my address and phone number every time I come in the store. But I don't give them out and that really irritates them so I guess we're even.

  Oh don't get me started complaining. It's the weekend and I've even got Monday off so I'm in a good mood. Let's keep it that way!

  Who's Got a Spooky Story to Tell?

  here's my one and only spooky story.. my wife goes to visit her jw sister, who lives several hundred miles away, about once a year.

  while she is away, i get some major diy jobs done.

  she is away at the moment, so i'm fitting a new bathroom.

  The only scary story I can tell y'all is that I've had no paranormal experience whatsoever. Never seen a ghost, monster, or ufo. Maybe they're scared of me. Hmmmmm....

  Seriously tho, I'm a little jealous. I've lived in 3 very old houses now, and in my early childhood right next door to a pre-War Between the States house, and never saw even one hint of ectoplasm. All I've got is that one lame-ass picture in an earlier post from this evening.

  I wanna see a ghost too!

  Alabama this weekend!

  i'll be in phenix city, alabama sunday the 3rd in case any of you are from that area.. my older brother will be driving the #75 pure stock (enduro) camaro in the national 100 dirt track championship race at the east alabama motor speedway.

  i'll be helping out on the pit crew.. i have to work saturday so i'll miss the qualifying races.

  hopefully joel will make it into the feature race.
