His mom in the movie made the statement "Karate, Kung fu. It's all the same". That's what most of the public thinks about the martial arts. They think the karate encompasses all martial arts. Which couldn't be further from the truth.

As a martial arts instructor (karate) I must say I really liked it. Yes, I grew up in the 80's and loved the original. All the fight scenes were over the top as well as the training scenes. But lets face it, tournaments aren't that exciting. You do get a few good fights from time to time and it takes years of training to do some of the things they do. Poeple that aren't into the martial arts would be pretty bored if they didn't throw in some flash.
I like the way this new one paid homage to the original without completely copying it. I really like the fact that Jackie Chan was "Mr. Han", not "Mr. Miyagi". It was nice to see Jackie Chan in a serious role.
I wish they would have showed other parts of the competition. Most tournaments consist of Katas (open hand forms), weapons katas (weapons form) and kumite (fighting). You got to see Jaden Smith doing open hand and weapons katas in his training but never performed them in the tournament.
I did see allot of fellow martial artist at the movie theater, but none were in uniform. That would have been very disrespectful. Unless they were putting on a demonstration for the movie goers.
I guessing I will be getting an influx of students from the movie.

Like others said, this person is no friend. She has low self-esteem and needs to belittle you to make herself feel better.
Ditch her and find some new friends. People that want to listen to what you have to say and build you up.
I found some of my closest friends and the most amazing group of people when I started studying karate. I knew when I went to my first belt test that these were the type of people that I wanted to surround myself with. Everyone was very encouraging and were alway trying to help me do better.
Don't waste your like on a parasite. This person just uses you to make herself feel better.
i know some who go to meetings because they feel they have to because of family or other considerations.. imagine going to a meeting and having your iphone with you!.
how would it look if you had a watchtower in your hands along with a tv guide?.

Got counceled for being interested in a girl I met at a Kingdumb Hall build. She was a pioneer and I was studying. I was raised in the whole mess but waited till I was 23 to get dunked. We both were really interested in each other. She was a very cool sister.
Well after one of my weekly studies the brother I was studying with told me I shouldn't be seeing her because I wasn't baptised yet. It was wrong for her to be interested in me and she could lose her pioneer status for seeing me. Of course I didn't listen and tried calling her. She refused my calls and kept making up excuses to not talk to me. Still pisses me off today when I think about it.
on t v i recently saw some of the film "knowledge" starring nicholas cage .
the idea of the film was that the main character had knowledge of coming disasters .
he was distraught - desperate - panicking to try and stop it happening.
I would say the majority don't really believe it will happen. I mean, how many JW have 401K plans or IRA's. If they trully believe Armegeddon was coming soon they would have no reason to save.

one of the ones i find hilarious is during the beth-sarim affair, rutherford announced that the world was laughing and mocking them because they don't believe the resurrection is going to come to pass when they said it was.
rutherford went on to say in effect "we will show them when people start coming back from the graves"... lol.
