Yep, Karen Armstrong, that's her. From what I've read it sounds like she was raised a Catholic. I wonder if the Catholics have banned that book the way the Borg banned C.O.C and I.S.O.C.F. by Ray Franz?

i went to a friend's house last night.
i was talking with him about religious issues.
i told him i no longer feel that the witnesses have the truth.
If God does bring an Armagedon someday I don't think your status in an organization will matter to him. He will read the heart condition of the individual and decide. We all know that there are good, loving people throughout the world. In different religions and some that don't even believe in God. People have different trials and tribulations in their life and can change their thinking about religion, life, and even God. But I believe that God can look at a person and see if he/she is a good person. All these rules and regulations have been made up by man to keep people in line. God doesn't care if your disfellowshiped or about your meeting attendance. He knows you and see you for the person you are. Live your life and enjoy it.

i knew their definition of a lye and how they apply there definition with their legalistic actions.
Lying generally involves saying something false to a person who is entitled to know the truth
So that's how the justify lying when it's "theorcratic warfare". It's OK to lie to someone when they don't deserve the truth. How twisted is that?
even now, i still battle with a silly fear of if something might have demons or not...i know it is silly, really, i do, but i haven't been able to get over it completely yet.

Demon fear was big in the congregation I grew up in. My mother made me throw away a Duran Durna cassette (Rio) because it had some phrase in a song about demons dancing around a fire. I remember praying every night up till I was around 16 years old that I wouldn't see a demon at night. They really pounded it into you. According to them the demons were everywhere just waiting to pounce on you of you did anything that Jehovah didn't approve of. Now I see it's just another aspect of their mind control.

last year, my husband got a handcycle (he can't use a bicycle due to handicap) and i got a new bicycle and we have been enjoying cycling.
last september, we went on our first cycling tour and did the 20 mile.
I'm big into mountain biking. Even going to different gatherings and hosting one. I recently converted an old mountain bike into a road bike and I'm now starting to do some 50 mile rides to help with my endurance. i voted for the first time in today's british columbia provincial election.
what an honour and what a priviledge to elect one's own representitive in the legislative assembly.

I remember my first time voting. I felt very proud to be electing my representitives. I alway thought it was stupid not to vote and then complain about the goverment. I alway tell my witness family if your not going to vote then you have no right to complain. Because when you vote and your choice doesn't win you can at least complain about it.

Well, at the end of the day my workmates still couldn't answer my question. Then one of them made a statement that blew my mind. He actually said that I think too much. That I need to go and read my bible some more. I did read my bible, how do you think I know about the story of Job. He said that we are not supposed to ask silly question about the bible like this one and to just accept it for what it is.

i'm looking through the new awake magazine (great article on shoplifiting by the way) and this older sister comes and sits beside me.
she started talking to me about this great little piece in the magazine about fish or something that should be on my dinner plate, something that i don't really care about, then she turns to me and said and i quote " where else but jehovah's organization can we learn such things?
i sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face thinking " are you kidding me?

Don't worry JV. My wife will be 29 this year and she is still in college getting her Masters Degree in Nursing. Her family (not witnesses) always ask when she will graduate and become a nurse. She's been a nurse for 6 years now. When people make stupid comments like this it just proves that they are not really interested in you or they would have listened the first 10 times you told them about you schooling.

Really, where's the proof for this statement? I guess they are saying that since she's a woman that she could have remained faithfull very long. They just get more strange everyday.
We don't know the date of her creation but guess who does? The angels and the demons - especially Satan since he was likely in the garden when she was created. The last 1000 years of the rest period begins with the end of Armageddon and the start of the millenial reign. So, in effect Satan probably knows the time when Armageddon will end and the millenial reign will start he just doesn't know exactly when Armageddon will begin. "Nobody knows the day or the hour only the father." Therefore when Revelation says that when Satan was thrown down to the earth he KNEW his time was short - he likely knew from chronology when the final curtain would be. He just doesn't know when Armagedon will begin or how long it will last.
Huh?? If he knows when Armagedon will end then he has a pretty good idea when it will start. Unless they are now saying that Armagedon will last for years. I was under the impression that it would only last a few days. I mean how long would it take an all powerfull God to exterminate a few billion people?
