Hi Zamora, wow this must be hard for you. I would suggest, be gracious and give them the invitation. The ball is in their court. How they react is something you cannot control. Your conscience will be clear. Enjoy your day. Stay close to the positive, loving people in your life and stay away from the negative....I wish you all the best!!!!

Surely the WT wouldn't LIE about motel/hotel accommodations?!?
by RisingEagle ini was eating lunch with 3/4 of my active jw family earlier today and they were bemoaning the idea that they were going to have to leave the central oklahoma area very early tomorrow morning to find a room so they could attend an assembly on the otherside of the state.
they had tried calling the 'approved' hotels and motels in the town where the assembly is being held and they were all booked.
so that left them looking at the rest of the approved list and having to travel as much as 50 miles away to get a room.

Sort of off the topic, but...when I was new to the organization I chose a hotel room in advance and paid by cheques to pay up front. I only had to pay for one more night. Well the time came to pay the final bill and it was much higher than the agreed price months ago. I was shocked, I had to pay extra money out of my pocket that I really did not have. But the real shocker was when I talked to Brothers about this they did not do anything. They brushed me off. They basically said there was nothing they could do. I was really upset about this. I thought they were there to back us up if there was problems with the hotel arrangements....I will never forget that....

This is a sad,sad story. And what troubles me is that it is still going on around the world. I wish it could stop.....I guess what we can do is watch for any signs of this happening around us and help the poor child.

Crisis of Conscience stolen from my local library
by neverendingjourney ini finished reading combating cult mind control a few days ago.
i went to the local library to try to get a copy of crisis of conscience.
i had the librarian search for it, and it's not available in any of the municipal library's branches (i live in a fairly large city).

I know when I went to get the book from the library...I had to wait about 2-3 months...They ended up bringing it in from another province!!
They should buy more copies..

Exactly what Gopher said. You and your wife are doing the right thing. It wont be easy, but its the right thing to do. Your grandchildren will love you for this.
May you have peace and strength Joanne

Whats the weirdest case that was handled in your congro??
by karter inwe had one were a guy screwed his dog.. a guy got his step daughter pregnant and ran off with her, his wife committed sue-aside , in our country you can't marry your step children if you are the course of the brake up however apparently its not against scriptural law so the congregation gave them a marriage.. we had 4 sisters pregnant in the congro (all married) this bro of questionable mental health confessed to the elders to being father of them all.. .

MLM schemes @ the hall, i.e Amway, , etc...
by avishai inanyone get sucked in?
i always thought it was ironic how often they preached against this sort of thing from the platform, then were out in the parking lot trying to sell it to you.

I think the funniest recollection of this sort of thing happened about 10 years ago. A husband and wife I know got invited out to a sisters house for 'lunch'. The lunch was really nice. The sister took alot of care and effort in preparing it. Then after the lunch she put on her sales pitch....it was for.....paracites!!!! She went into great detail of what they looked like and how to get rid of them...etc...It was funny. My friends were totally shocked...still makes me chuckle. Poor sister was only trying to make extra money...

Was There A Specific Event That U Remember-- Realizing It Wasn't The Truth?
by minimus infor me, it was a combination of things over a long period of time.
.
how about you?

joanne_
Well, like everyone here, it was a combination of things. Lack of love, jumping through hoops, and the realization that people all over the world pray, sometimes their prayers are answered, sometimes not. Just the same as people in the 'truth'. Then I realized, that it was all a big puzzle, and I did not quite fit.
I knew that I could not do enough to really be 'in' and have friends. I went out and made my own friends, honest hearted and god fearing people...but without all the pressure. And now when I read about the blood issue, UN, 1914, etc...I know that I would never have been happy. But I think the biggest was I felt that "I did not fit" within that structure. I would have gone nuts beating myself up for not been good enough...And that I know does not come from God. I have found God my own way.
