"some of the pioneers move slow"?
correction: some of the pioneers move.
i touch on this subject in another post but i felt the need to take it further...back in the day jw's went out in fs but i don't know about today.... i live in a big city....the territory my congregation has is small because there are so many cong.
here.. our bookstudy only had maybe four blocks at the most to work.
my ex husband and i would go to the meetings and hear talk about fs and all the wonderful and experiences and the joy oh joy in being out in the ministry.

i threw this out on another thread and someone asked that i give it it's own.
there were other ideas thrown out, but this one is developed enough to merit discussion.
i am not sure how to pull this off.. .
a house divided against itself will not stand - personally, i don't think the collapse needs any help from outsiders, or should i say additional help. the internet has flattened the playing field for the world, and the "truth" is on the loose - not hiding under a basket or in a magazine or at a meeting or in a new york building.

i just got a sneak peek at a letter to all congregations.
it will be read at this week's service meeting.
i can't remember it word for word but the gist is: .
Here here to all comments so far. EIGHT DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS??? WTF kind of math is that? They must have formulas that show how these calls for money usually work out. A certain percent will give $0, another group will give EXACTLY $8.50, and another group will give enough for 5-10 people who are part of group one and group 3 knows it.
I'm sure there is a new floodlight of light, but all the time I was in the dark we were taught that if they ever started asking for money, they will have lost jehovah's blessing. point final, period, eos, non-negotiable,just like the rest of BtG............. "my yoke is kindly and my load is light"

they're baaaack.
i thought the jws had left that forum, but they haven't.. http://www.vh1.com/interact/boards/main.jhtml/vh1_news_presents/threadlist?offset=0.
check out the most recent thread.
Sheesh! I used to be one of these people. Cultish? Well, many of the posts pointed out that EX JWs were interviewed and how fair could that be. It's sad. They USED to be JWs but were EX'd because they told the truth. Now a JW can't believe what they say - what a great system for controlling the mass and what they think they know. Also, not one single example was given by any of them as to what they think was specifially untrue in the report (I don't even know what show it was). But all generalities - "all lies" "untrue" - WHAT specifically are they referring to. What a mental blur they live in. No wonder I thought I was losing my mind - I WAS!

sounds like it might be time for people to start putting themselves on the "do not call" list ( https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx ).
30. Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?
Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of ?telemarketing.? Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000.
$11,000 might hit them where they live. Fair is fair. Let's do things in accordance with the law of the land. how many will show up for "phone witnessing" (aka coffee and donuts and gossip session) and actually call someone after the first ding? i will think about that for a while...........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

hopefully i've given something to someone here over the years.
i know i've taken plenty.. i had to come here, the only place where i can say what i have on my mind and know that people will understand.. i took an overdose of medication on monday.
my long battle with anxiety and depression that is well chronicled on these pages got the best of me once again.
Joel - I am so sorry to hear about your rough times. Please take care of yourself and know that you are loved - you can PM me any time, I DO KNOW what you are going through, as do many of those on this board. We are your friends and we are here for you. You won't be shunned or kicked to the curb here just because you're livin' life. Hang in there!!!

governing body claims title to kingdom halls and assembly halls.
i'm told this is what the new "organized" book says about real estate on page 16: "what then are the "belongings"?
these are all the spiritual assets on earth that have become christ's property in connection with his authority as heavenly king.
I guess I never studied enough - I ALWAYS thought the "belongings" were the spiritual activities, the preaching work, bible students, publishers, all of the "works". Wonder why they bother having special contribution boxes - ie "local needs", "WWW", etc. Seems that they just take it all and do whatever suits their investments best. What a dope I was. If I were still a witness today and I found out that our hall ($500,000 mortgage plus interest) went to the society after it was paid for, I would have another bone to pick with them. Why borrow from them? Once they own it, do they then "rent" it back to the congregation? Fleece, fleece, fleece - lots of cold and naked sheep - hmmm, must be their own fault.

song 217.
10 min: local announcements.
selected announcements from our km.
semantics issue - they really need to define "family" - those related to you who are also witnesses is what they mean, and only what they mean.
Invite audience to comment on how they keep other activities from interfering iwth congregation meetings.
they certainly don't mean your actual fleshly relatives, because they make no allowance for caring for them. one elder who had served as a CO for many years told me in confidence (when i was on the water slide out of the borg) that he had been screwed by the big guys. he was serving in area near his aging parents. asked if he could stay there for his next assignment to continue to care for them. they said, go where we tell you or youre out. he opted out and lost any/all financial benefits due him for his "service" because he was 2 years away from age requirement (not sure what the bennies are, but some financial assistance like retirement). now, what the f* kinda love is that??? and him? oh, he is still pioneering and going to school and starting a new business and heading for a heart attack because he can't let go. or as he said: "If I stop pioneering, I would be saying that my whole life has been a lie."
This was soon after 911, and I told him "you are a suicide-pioneer", be careful. amen
family, schmamily.
trudy
yep, it's true.
while giving his usual spiel about how true christians should struggle, he says that some of those who have left the truth, say they never felt better.. .
the answer: "they don't have to stuggle anymore.".
the pot is boiling down. the only ones who can possibly remain are:
1. mentally ill, can't help it
2. elderly with no other social connections, no other choice
3. the "trapped" ones, who don't want to lose their family ties
4. the bullies who love herding them all around
that is how i see it, and I know people in each situation. can't think of a witness i know who isn't in one of those classes, my family included. sad.
trudy
although i was considered an exemplary jw, i never really could see it happening.
still don't.
nope, not after 1975, that did it for me, just figured they would get the "right' light eventually - didn't push ahead with my own "revelation" - what a dumb ass.
