for the past year, i have been observing the jw kids that i know.
i am in a unique situation as i work at the local high school, therefore see many of them on a daily basis.
let me tell you, 80% of them are totally undistinguishable as jws.
pratt1 - my thoughts exactly! they really have no other choice if they are to survive growing up in this cult. this is what happens when "children" are forced to "conform" or risk serious consequences - it's sad really, because they aren't learning how to be loyal or honest, but rather how to cheat and deceive to get what they want (kids will be kids and you can't stop that). nice job borg! real nice job.

David died as a worshipper of "false" gods and once again, an entire study based on the old testament and the words of someone who was an adulterer, murderer, and pagan. "Christian" is just a buzz word for them. Thanks, Blondie, for confirmation that they continuing to use the same old crap to hold onto the same old people. I wonder how many studies they are able to keep and baptize with this pablum. For many of the r&f who have been in for a long time, these old "tapes" may work to keep them fenced in, but it is absurd gibberish to non-culters.

it's a while since i reviewed the publications that dubs use on their "home bible studies", so the release of a new brochure gives us that opportunity again!.
dubs will be using the "keep on the watch!
" brochure to "invite" the lapsed, as well as the recently interested ones to commit themselves to "god's earthly organisation".. the trouble is, that the writing department have used this glossy brochure to misrepresent the 'real' truth.. page 18 shows a picture of a happy social gathering in "the new system".

being announced at service meetings this week at all us congregations:.
a letter read during the announcements states that due to increased costs of health insurance and vehicles provided for traveling overseers (circuit and district overseers) the watchtower bible and tract society has determined the need to ask for a specific "contribution" for the "traveling overseer assistance arrangement".. .
until this date expenses of this sort were paid from the worldwide work or general fund of contributions.. .
and who, just WHO is supposed to take care of the expenses for the publishers who are doing all the f'n work AND bearing the burden for the lazy-ass full-time vacationers? sometimes things like this make me so mad i can't see straight...............................................
i touch on this subject in another post but i felt the need to take it further...back in the day jw's went out in fs but i don't know about today.... i live in a big city....the territory my congregation has is small because there are so many cong.
here.. our bookstudy only had maybe four blocks at the most to work.
my ex husband and i would go to the meetings and hear talk about fs and all the wonderful and experiences and the joy oh joy in being out in the ministry.

Here here to all comments so far. EIGHT DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS??? WTF kind of math is that? They must have formulas that show how these calls for money usually work out. A certain percent will give $0, another group will give EXACTLY $8.50, and another group will give enough for 5-10 people who are part of group one and group 3 knows it.
I'm sure there is a new floodlight of light, but all the time I was in the dark we were taught that if they ever started asking for money, they will have lost jehovah's blessing. point final, period, eos, non-negotiable,just like the rest of BtG............. "my yoke is kindly and my load is light"

Sheesh! I used to be one of these people. Cultish? Well, many of the posts pointed out that EX JWs were interviewed and how fair could that be. It's sad. They USED to be JWs but were EX'd because they told the truth. Now a JW can't believe what they say - what a great system for controlling the mass and what they think they know. Also, not one single example was given by any of them as to what they think was specifially untrue in the report (I don't even know what show it was). But all generalities - "all lies" "untrue" - WHAT specifically are they referring to. What a mental blur they live in. No wonder I thought I was losing my mind - I WAS!
