  Have Fun Applying Scriptures To The Witnesses/Organization

  i was thinking of how the watchtower always seems to be using a scripture and somehow applying it to themselves.

  let's take some bible verses or passages and have a little fun with making our own interpetation........example# 1.....matthew 25: 13, "keep on the watch, therefore, because you know neither the day nor the hour"......"keep on the watch" refers to our continuous reading of the watchtower magazines and watchtower publications.

  "you know neither the day or the hour" but the "faithful and discreet slave has insight into such matters and that is why we must always be on the alert and listen to them!.........example # 2.....mt.

  My two favorites are Mt.23:15 and Mt.23:23.The latter one is already covered here so I'll expand on mt.23:15.

  Ever notice how far they'll travel,how long they'll study with one person,how out of their way they'll go for someone who is just studying,practically holding you by the hand till the day you get baptized?Then when they can't use you to pad their service report,you're not as important as you were made to feel.Basically,you're on your own now,go get your own calls,rv's,studies,hours,placements....and if you don't meet our righteous standards,we'll condemn you till you quit!

  Met a JW elder for the first time since leaving JW

  i left about 14 months back and stopped attending meetings cold turkey.

  so i haven't seen any jws for ages and for some reason i've never bumped into them at the mall or in town - and i guess that means they haven't seen me either or know what i'm up to.. i was at a cafe with a male friend today, we look like a typical couple that is we're the same age, shop together etc but its purely platonic.

  but you know how it is with jw .

  congratulations coldfish for making a stand for yourself,it will help in re-building your self-esteem that the WT tried to crush.

  btw,the elder probably put down an rv and 1 hour service so it wasn't all in vain for him.there's always an ulterior motive behind that caring,smiling face.

  I remember one time,a brother and I went to a door.The householder just opened the door and let out her big german shepperd as we walked in the porch.The dog just walked right by us like we weren't there.When we got back to the car the brother said to me "wouldn't it be something if tomorrow we read in the paper that this dog attacked someone today?" Must've been a mellow,cause I never heard of it attacking anybody.

  Could even make this a 3-part deep,new light,intense,watchtower study.

  the brother called one day and asked for my time for the previous month.I told him I had not went out at all."OH" he said,and that was it,nobody's asked for my time since.That was 6 yrs ago.

  discussing jw doctrine with my parents this week, ..sigh!...i was told by my mother that i think too much and that i should just have faith in the governing body, because it 'is a progressive organization'....sigh!...what can you say?

  i told her that the wtbts was just a business and unfortunately she was in a cult and 'brainwashed'.

  at this she screeched, 'me!

  Don't stop talking to your parents,just do it in a kind,respectful manner using sound reasoning to draw them out.

  for example ask them,if a person didn't believe or agree with a wt teaching,he would be considered spiritually weak,if he expressed his feelings verbally,he might be considered an apostate....BUT when the WTS changes their minds about something,it's "NEW LIGHT"??????????????

  now there's one for serious thought!

  Godly Obedience in 2005

  yep, "godly obedience" is the theme for this years district convention.. you know the wts will be hot on obedience this year.. expect more wt articles asking for money (as obedience to jehovah), asking for more pioneers and elders, and making this a matter of obedience.. it's getting worse.. at the meeting this week, a whole 25 minutes was taken up on what to do regarding accomodation at the district convention.. brother zealous said if we're not obedient to the instructions that the faithful slave has given us, we undermine the hard work the society puts in to arrange these provisions.. godley obedience means we will attend all three days at our convention.. .

  this cult makes me sick.

  everything is about jehovah; jesus just does not figure in anything, unless they feel the need to quote a scripture or something.. .

  We're renting a cottage by the lake,screw their motel arrangements.I'd be embarrassed to call a motel and identify myself as a jw wanting to rent a room for the convention.We use to have this problem where people went home the first night and would rent rooms at 3 or 4 different places then they'd wait and see where their friends were staying,then ,,,,you guessed it,they'd cancel the other rooms.Meanwhile the motel had to turn down some people cause they thought they were booked for that week-end then they end up with a bunch of empty rooms.

  How about the ones who fake somekind of physical injury in order to fraudulently receive workman's compensation.I know of more than one,can't go to work,but never a problem to go fishing,playing hockey,travelling across the country....oh yeah,and getting 20+hours of service to set a good example and get a spiritual promotion.
