Circular meetings
by truth_about_the_truth indont you love it when you go to the meeting only to hear them talk about why you should be at the meetings?.
basically this is the point:.
"it is important for us to be at the meetings so we can be reminded about coming to the meetings.".

It always did bug me towards the end how much effort they do put in to getting us to stay in the truth. All the lies and inuendo about "outside" life and how wicked it is. All the Young People Ask articles about how much trouble a teen can get into in the "World". How our restrictions are realy blessings saving us from all the harm and hurt satan is throwing at us.
After 26 years, i still couldn't remember the correct order of the bible books, How to correctly explain the working out of the year 1914 (day for a year and all that crap), BUT my hours were up there with the best, my presentation of the mags was flawless, as was my overcoming "conversation stoppers" and i could usually get a "donation" from anyone. Their focus is less on accurate bible education, and more on keeping the congregations so busy with tasks that they dont start asking questions and woking things out for themselves. But if you do ask a Q: "There's an article you should read that gives the answer."

DA and DF
by ivy init has been a long time since i checked up on the practices of the jw's, and through this discussion i keep hearing posts on da letters.. i was da in an announcement at a meeting back in 1988 or 1989. it was basically the same as being df, but i hadn't been baptized.
a few months later the borg came out and said that it couldn't be done to someone who wasn't baptized.
so they discussed the change, and then at the end of the meeting said, the matter with ..... has been delt with.. suddenly, everyone was talking to me again, they even wanted to plan a baby shower.. what is the policy now?

Can a baptised one get DA'd instead of DF'd? Like if you're missing all the meetings but not actually commiting any other gross sin? Can they DA you in an atempt to shock you to come back.
If they did DA you, would that mean the annoying phone calls from ones wanting to encourage you would stop, because you are a semi-bad associate?

Asocial means rejecting or lacking the capacity for social interaction. It leaves a twisted answer.
Witnesses are admonished to stay clear of all outside "worldly" associations. This would make them apear to those outside the faith as being anti-social. But on the other hand, most witnesses have a moderately busy social calendar, with social events most weekends.

it used to really get on my nerves.
apart from being a punctuation faux pas to use that many !

Read this guys profile. How does it feel to know that true witnesses think YOU are an apostate? You've studdied their teachings? Wow, you're my hero. You're a real expert now. Tomorrow is Sunday. why don't you get up at 7 and get ready for the meeting. You should find there will be one in your local area starting at 9 or 9.30.
Dont be gutless. Make a decission. There is no fence sitting. All witness's and ex-witnesses know this. Either : admit to all watching that you don't beleive everything the GB says you must believe -OR- Start a real study with real witnesses, progress, repent, and then get baptised. You wont be around here after that because real witnesses CAN'T COME HERE. I don't like YOUR attitude. Why does your name have anas in it? Phil. -

Have you expanded your entertainment choices post witness?
by Thechickennest inwe live in a small ranching community in western south dakota where chicken roping on saturday nights at the local redneck steakhouse tavern is the feature entertainment in town!
if we drive about 80 miles north we have more choices.
without 5 meetings, door to door, assemblies, study, study, study, etc, etc, that kind of frees up quite a bit of time.

For the first time i can go to the pub with the boys from work and not feel guilty. I've never done so much socially as i am now. It good to have friends who dont judge you for not making the meeting.

Leeha,
Aussie girls are the tougherest and braverest in the whole wide world. Remember that. I don't know if i read it, but how many out? I got mine taken out in pairs, one side of the mouth at a time. They are fine now.
