Of course they believe in God! You all have me questioning myself now. I still believe in god, as i did in the org. The only difference is that witnesses are taught by the gb who HE is, and what HE wants, and what we must do to keep HIM happy. These are the places where witnesses are misled.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses believe in God?
by Gill inif they did they would not feel the need for things like judicial committees.
they'd leave it to god who supposedly can see all to judge peoples heart condition.
i remember a young sister who left home and went to live with her boyfriend.

wanting to leave jw org

My wife and i chose to fade away quietly. Been gone for 9 months or so (I think, i'm not really counting!). You will be supprised how easy it is, and how long it takes for someone to call you. And how easy it is to lob them off with a "I'm just busy",...... or "I'm just really worn out". Give this a go first, and spare the heartache of the hurt others will try to inflict.

Blood taking...is it a disfellowshipping offence or up to conscience.
by Gill incan you tell me whether the taking of blood is a conscience matter or a disfellowshipping matter?.
i ask this because i have just come away from a heated discussion with my parents and they insist that taking blood or blood products has always been a matter of conscience and no one has ever been disfellowshipped for taking blood.
they say that a question was raised at the service meeting over the new blood card/documents whether taking blood fractions was breaking gods law and the presiding overseer j.h said that taking blood has always been a conscience matter and never was anyone disfellowshipped for it.. is this true?

TD,
Thank you for you last post here, showing the changing opinion of the society. I had not seen this before. When you can see the changing so clearly like this, it highlights the fact that they really don't know anything.

I was born and raised a witness. All the meetings, witnessing, 1st talk when I was 7, parts on assemblys, multiple assignments and privleges. Got confused with some teachings about 3 years back, and now, at nearly 27 have been out for the most part of a year. Was pretty slack for a couple of months before that, untill i worked up the courage. My wife has left with me. She hasn't been to the hall for 5 months.

Self love
by Cath inis there anyone out there who remembers being taught by the wt that love of the self was sinful?
if so will you please point me to a piece of literature which contains that teaching, preferably a scan if possible.
i have a vague memory of hearing something along those lines as a child and don't know if it was part of jw teaching or just something my family taught us.

And just to confuse things, we must "love our neighbour as ourselves."
Probably a different love. Isn't there a few types of love in the bible? A.gape', Phi-lia, and i thought there was 1 more.

come on guys, you can do better than this !
by deddaisy inyawn, bore, blah.................come on guys, jw's are getting pretty dusty here, where's the zest on this board ?
tell your relatives, friends, etc: hey, you were part of the u.n., the watchtower bible & tract society owned a majority of stock in a jw company that had military contracts, the organization that you represent was false prophesying that the world was going to end in the 1800s through the 1900s, and when you can prove to me otherwise, than maybe i'll talk to you.
these guys are just going along with the program because they've gone along this far and they don't know what else to do with their lives because all of their acquaintances are part of this organization and their lives are almost up.............................to turn completely against this organization would be declaring defeat of their very lives.

I hold them responsible for their own behaviors. Their mean behaviors to me and to my family have by far overshadowed and cancelled any good they may have done.
I am convinced they are as I was . . . a Witness by my own free will choice. They can be mean, egotistical, self-righteouse and stubborn. But without wanting to excuse any callous behaviour you or anyone else has experienced, remember they are locked into a cult with rules and laws covering every possible feeling, action, and circumstance. They are taught ova and ova again how to behave, how to treat insiders, and outsiders. There is no free choice. The average witness never contemplates leaving. They might get tired of living the life, but most acept there is no leaving. You can escape, like you would from a prison, but life will never be as a normal humans can be.
You can always choose to be nice - there is no excuse for rudeness, but pity all witnesses who have never had to opportunity to see the real truth. They probably never will.

In Jesus name,,,amen!
by frankiespeakin ini find it hard to beleive that one needs a certain formula to follow in order to pray to god.
any formula you find got to be a human invention.
it is hard for me to imagine a god that is so petty that he won't answer a persons prayer unless they follow with the ending "in jesus name" come on that sounds crazy.

One year we were "celebrating" the memorial, and one of the brothers got up onto the platform to say the prayer preceeding the passing of the wine. He was a little nervous, so that might explain what happened. The prayer went pretty nicely (same old ramble), but he finished up with:
SO FOR ALL THESE THINGS WE SAY THANKYOU.....AMEN.
Well............. what a commotion! There was whispering and shaking of heads everywhere. The elder knew he had broken the code, and you could see he was embarrased as he stepped down off the platform. The elders had a chat to him after the memorial, and made him get up on the platform the following Tuesday service meeting and "appologise to anyone he might have offended". I thought it was all BS, but thats the way it went.

Orade,
Hey Phil! How's the baby?
He's just fine! He was 4 months old on Thursday. Started rolling over about a week and a half ago. He is a bit grissly now, we think he's teething, although its a bit early for that yet. We will just wait and see. Today he has his first "swimming" lesson. Just baby stuff. My wife used to have an older brother, but he drowned in a pool when he was 3. We want to make sure this kid knows what to do in water.
Thanks very much for asking! See you around.
