so what comes next........
by fleaman uk inive had a day off work today and have been reflecting on stuff like never before.. ive had the strong jw belief system from pretty much the word go.then in 1995 that all started to end with the change in generation.i couldnt believe what i was hearing!at the time i was an ms and reg pioneer and 100% in my beliefs.overtures were made to me about being an elder.. the doubts continued until about 3 years ago,i couldnt stands no more (in best popeye voice)and dropped out the religion with a bang!i had long relinquished the pioneering and the ms.. what came next?well for a year a completely hedonistic existance..boy,did i make up for lost time with the beer and the laydeez.i did it far away tho..still worried about the elders.then i became more blase..what right did those elders have over what i chose to do?
?i celebrated xmas..did birthdays,fell out spectacularly with parents,got a great gf,split up,got back together again..all in all a bit of a busy period!.
but now its hit me.. ive lost an entire belief system, one i adhered too before i saw the light.now im completely nihilistic, nearly 35 (half way thru 3 score years and 10)and am genuinely concerned about what the future holds!.

Objectivism: Any study this philosophy?
by Eyebrow2 inhey there...i never got a chance to study or read about objectivism in college, or read any of ayn rand's books while in high school or college.. i finally started too, and was curious if there are others out there that have?
i joined a study group that meets once or twice a month to go over, basically an overview of the philosophy.
i guess i really have missed bookstudy hahaha.... anyone else?

It is interesting as well as Rand's life story. Objectivism and Existentialism are fascinating to me--not just that they are new philosophies but how they came about.

I studied it in undergrad and wrote part of my thesis for grad school about it...I'm not a big fan. There are holes in every philosophy but huge ones in Rand's philosophy...she also didn't follow her own rules so I find it hard to take her seriously.
But that's just my own opinion. -

Let's write a short [or long] story....
by AK - Jeff inone line at a time.
no vulgarity please - take the story wherever you want to.. .
jane was a brilliant spokeswoman for the council, and as she prepared to step to the podium a surprising flash of light caught her left eye.

Jehovah was standing there with his cell phone fuming because this was the 896th time he was asked for help in a 2 hour span.

Women can't think for themselves.
by wanderlustguy injust got back from my brother'splace after being there for three weeks.
i forgot how the org teaches you to view women.
his wife just became the manager of a video store, and i felt so sorry for her when she was talking to him about her work.

ya, I was brought up with that. My mom always said she wanted to be a housewife and that was what all women were supposed to be...even when I questioned how badly she was treated my my dad. My grandfather was less literate than my grandmother. In fact, while they were married she had to read letters and bills to him and explain everything--yet he was in charge.
Anyway...I have many stories about the women I was brought up with. I managed to get through my adult life without letting myself be treated the same way BUT I still have issues with it. Both of my sisters have gotten into abusive, dominating relationships. And then there's my older brother who, although no longer a JW, thinks women should be educated until they marry. And he doesn't even have a GED. I got into it with him at Thanksgiving about different matters and according to him I "disrespected" him "as a man" because I confronted him. I also "took advantage" of the fact that I'm a "female" knowing that he wouldn't beat the crap out of me...even though he forgets he shoved me more than once and punched the walll calling me a bitch and some other things. In his mind I shouldn't have said anything to him even if he was out of line...because I'm female.
OK I'm done.... -
