hmmm....could be. I've never heard of this before. I'll ask some friends and my cousin. My cousin attends a nearby mosque and asks around whenever I give him questions.

ya...I would attribute it to stress and lack of sleep as well. I'm only 31 and have had moments where I completely forgot mid-sentence what I was talking about or started looking for something and suddenly forgot what it was. I even once was trying to make dinner and got distracted. 40 minutes later I couldn't figure out why I didn't smell anything in the oven.....realized I hadn't put anything in the oven.
It's always stressful times or lack of sleep in my case. I wouldn't worry about it too much Mary. Just try to not get too stressed and try to get sleep.

doesn't this happen every other year? I thinks it's a matter of the amount of people that are there. Millions show up and problems happen. It's sad but happens. It's hard to keep crowd control with so many people.

Not even George W Bush is that stupid.
he's not? this is the same guy who flew in airforce one over N.O. rather actually touching ground. He's even said he doesn't read the news....so what would he know about the rest of the world?
As far as people from Iraq and Iran all believing Hammas is right....I totally disagree. Most of the people from Iraq I know are pro-Bush the ones that aren't pro-Bush just don't want their family in Iraq to be harmed in this war. The Iranians I know are against the war but aren't pro-terrorist. Most of the friends that I have that are Iranian think open conversation could solve problems.
As far as Iran and nuclear weapons go...they aren't all crazy. Maybe it more has to do with 1) being able to provide electrical power the same way the US and other western countries do 2) standing up to the west (US) who typically look at them as children too crazy to handle their own matters. 3) They don't have any power without against invasion without nuclear power. Pakistan has it why can't Iran?
IMO if the US wants to have a moral or ethical stand on this we shouldn't be using nuclear power or producing nuclear weapons. And just because some guy makes anti-israel speeches shouldn't mean they are ripe for invasion. I've met a lot of anti-semetic people in Idaho....should we bomb Idaho? Sure he's a leader but I seriously don't see the difference between him and Bush...cept Bush has actually acted on his words which has left many dead.
Spectrum- you forgot Honduras, Panama, Cambodia, Guatemala, recent events against Chevez in Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, Democratic Republic of the Congo , Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Lebanon, Laos, Indonesia, Angola, Grenada, Libya, Dominican Republic....and I can come up with more but need to log off soon.

Your childhood meals.

When we had the money...it was macaroni and cheese (from the box) and potato salad. Not a big fan of mac & cheese now but get cravings now and then. Oh, ramen as well....still eat it from time to time. Potato salad (my grandmother's recipe) still rules. I could eat it anytime...never get tired of it.
Slugga- there were a couple times that's all my mom had for us--flour and water .....it's called "hard tack" or "sailor's food" My mom was a housewife till I was 8 then my parents got divorced and my dad ran off refusing to pay child support. So, there wasn't any income for a while. Hard tack is the worst....but I also remember the oatmeal thinned out by water to feed 5 kids. Oh, and this was in the US....the richest country on earth I hear.

What is a right?
by Narkissos ini've been looking at the "health care" thread here and there and, although i did not reply (it's one of the issues where most americans and europeans seem to be really really far apart) i felt like asking a distinct yet related question which probably best suits another thread.. so, what is a "right"?.
are "human rights" written somewhere, in heaven or in nature, other than in human laws / customs which are the provisional, ever-changing result of power struggle and negotiation, in an equally ever-changing economical-social conjuncture?.
and then what is the point of discussing "rights," if they are not grounded anywhere else than in the socio-political arena itself?

I always side with health care being a right......but that's just me. I grew up without it and at the moment--although I'm working and have 2 degrees, I can't afford health care for myself.
I'm a little miffed by the posts on the "health care" thread as well....but this is what (imho) most americans know....that is, in order to be well, you need to be able to pay because others have to be paid. if you can't pay for a service......you shouldn't get it.
To all you americans....remember I'm one too. Our experiences are different....just because you have insurance through your work doesn't mean others do. Don't attack automatically....think about it first.
narkissos- I think the marx concept has been dealt with lightly as well.

For those of you born in.....
by lonelysheep ini want to say how brave i think all of you are for stepping out of the jw's, even if it's hidden (those of you still going).
whenever witnesses would knock on our door, i always felt they were ok and just worshipping god in the way they felt was right.
i never knew it came with soooo much stress and shunning if one does not comply.

I was born in....had clues to it being false-one being my grandmother walking me back to the restroom (age 5) and whispering, "I know, I hate it too." I knew I didn't like it all through the time my family was in it but it wasn't until around 11 or 12 that I really questioned it and knew what I was questioning.
But anyway, nice thread LS. And nice post prophecor.

what do they think of none jw
by the devil 666 incan anyone tell me what do jw think of the family of none jw .as most of you know my daughter is a jw and it now seems to me that these so called people are telling my daughter not to have any contact with her family only with them.
if this is true why are they doing this and why is she doing what they are telling her.

in my opinion the wts does it because they want to keep people in, your daughter does is because she's terrified of not following what the WTS says.

i live near the u-district and i'm going to post at school, but there's always that uncertainty about a roommate you don't know or who isn't at least a friend of a friend.
