Well, thanks for that FBF...someone appreciates me around here.
No, not "high" ...that stuff makes me sick....I'm drinker. Anyway, many people have some good points to make...I've been drinking so I love everybody right now...just like Mother Theresa.

I think I hate Mother Teresa now...
by Preston ini've been reading christopher hitchen's love poverty, and war.
it's a pretty good book that puts a lot of things in perspective regarding iraq, iran, pakistan...there's even a section on mother teresa.
this section...was probably the most interesting part of the whole book i have read so far.

you know when the elders kept coming around for my mom she just stopped answering the door to them after a while...or I'd answer (I was a smartass teenager) and tell them to go away. They eventually stopped. Are you "fading?"
I think with fading it's a bit harder to shake them, but from what I hear it's do-able. -

New to the forum
by Poztate ini don't know about the rest of you but i seem to see newbies popping up all over the place.
i love it.
i think it would be helpful to have a new listing for newbies to introduce themselves.would there be any problems with this and would it help or hinder the board?

"Unlike 'out of the org' who seems to have a nice attitude (maybe except to the brotherhood??)"
come on GDT, outoftheorg hasn't written anything here that's harsh or dishonest. I think you're being kind of unfair to outoftheorg and fairchild. It's not fair to tell someone in pain and with so many questions that they should stick with it. If fairchild decides to go back that's fairchilds decision...but the fact that fairchild is unsure and therefore vulnerable is a pretty good reason to take a step back, clear the head and THEN decide what to do next. -

Hi Dan from Florida.
Ummm, would this be the musician and convert to JWs, "One In A Million" Brother Larry Graham? If so, I WISH I had contact info for him but I don't, I kinda doubt anyone here does as most on this site are ex-JWs...but you probably know this already. BUT that song, One In A Million kicks ass...I liked the stuff he did with Sly & The Family Stone as well.
Is this the Larry Graham you speak of? -

Hmmm...
OH welcome to the forum Davin. Glad you're here.
This ex-JW you speak of...I don't know what I would have said....but knowing me I probably would have sounded all shocked and asked how it is she could still believe that crap and then I'd get all mad and excited and...yup, I'm a real jerk sometimes.
But you know, from what you say of her it sounds like she doesn't want to change her mind and maybe she was fishin' for some sympathy? I don't know Davin but glad you're posting. -

Worn down again....
by puff candy ini wanted to let you know that i told my mother i had found some information on the internet regarding jw,s.
i was then subjected to 2 odd hours on the phone about why apostates are so wrong and how these people are typist's for satan.
she put her husband on the phone too who went on a lot too....basically they wore me down and i ended the weakest again!

Sorry to hear this puff candy. I'm glad you ordered that book though, I think it might be very helpful for the situation your in.
Have you seen the rickross.com website? I've found it rather helpful. It isn't just focused on JWs, although it has quite a few articles about them, it has listings of 100s of cults/high control religions but it also has a resources and contact information page with a lot of helpful information on how to deal with these situations. Just a thought. -

Homeschooling?
by mkr32208 inthis is a pet peeve of mine!
how in the heck can the school board justify turning the education of anyone over to some jacka$$ that dropped out of school to pioneer and makes their living cleaning toilets!
how can any parent that truely loves their kid not take a good long look at themselves and say "i am not the best teacher for this child.

Well, my mom tried that with me and it didn't work. While I agree school is where you develope your social skills I was raised a JW so...either way I wasn't encouraged to socialize. As a kid I was relieved I didn't have to be the JW kid at school anymore but my education suffered for it. You can overcome it- I got a GED and went to college and graduate school....but it depends on how motivated you are to set things straight I guess.
