Farkel,
Just because it's not one persons idea of intellectually stimulating does not make it a waste of space! It's an open discussion board and everyone is entitled to their thoughts. Not every post is going to be an awe-inspiring, make me re-evaluate my entire existence and my place in the universe kind of thread. Sometimes a post is just a post... As has been said so often lately...If ya don't like it, don't read it! IMHHO

Baptismal Questions
by LovesDubs ini was baptized june 1, 1985. thats the day they started using the new baptismal questions in their baptismal talk on the baptismal day to all the baptismal candidates.
did any of you actually hear those questions they made you stand up to hear read?
would any of us at that moment in time actually have said anything but a resounding "yes!!!

I was baptised in 1983, and so I had the older questions. But at the time, just like LovesDubs, I probably wouldn't have given the questions second thought, even if they had said something like the new ones say.. I was only 18 at the time, and wasn't getting baptised because of any love for *the truth* or for God. I did it because it was the thing to do, and after being indoctrinated for 18 years it was in my controlled mind the next *logical* step. Very sad

Have any successully faded away?
by lookingnow22 ini would be interested in hearing from any of you that have successfully "faded away" from the wbts.
i realize that there is no easy way to leave because of the way that the jw's will treat me.
mainly, i am concerned with my family.

My fading seems to be going pretty uneventfully. (So far that is) My family, who isn't active, (except for my brother) are still in the mindset that Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth. They know that I am not active, and they also know, to some degree that I no longer believe that JWs have *the truth*. They are all still speaking with me and except for the occasional "I think the witnesses have the truth because........" The subject isn't even broached. The elders haven't been back since before the memorial (which I didn't attend)And everything has been basically, blissfully quiet as regards the JWs. YAY!!!! Hope it continues in this vein.

Governing Body=Jehovah???
by betweenworlds ina pioneer sister from the local congregation mentioned to me in an email that she is behind in her hours this month.
i emailed her back and told her not to worry about those hours, that god reads hearts not time slips.
this was her response, and it made me very sad.. i love being busy.

I love being busy. especially being busy for Jehovah. Pioneering is my
life and I wouldn't have it any other way. You are so right about the
time thing. Jehovah has let us know that because he has decreased the
pioneer hour requirement to just 70 hours.
I find it so incredible that in the minds of JWs, every step that the governing body makes, is said to be that of Jehovah. What I find really incredible is that I too was once caught up in the same mind set! Scary to think that people can be so swept up in something, that common sense goes out the window.BW
