Announcing that Elders are no longer Elders
by Spudinator inin the past year or so a local congregation has had several announcements that "so-and-so is no longer serving as an elder.".
one of these elders has served in the watchtower organization since the 1940's.
one thing apparent is the "organization's" lack of recognition and/or appreciation for its own.

Hi all.
When an elder steps down or is removed, does he still get to be part of the Chieftan class after armaggedon? Or does this honour only apply to those who remain elders through into the *great tribulation*? Just curious what they believe about this.
Reminds me of a talk I heard at an assembly (think it was the one with the Noah drama) where they brought out that what ever service we did in the past wouldn't matter, if we slacked off right before armaggedon, we would still be destoyed.

Post a pic of the child that you were,,,,,,,,,,in honor of healing
by LyinEyes inmost of you know that i have moved back to my old house, and in the process, had lots of boxes to go thru.
i have found so many treasured moments of my life, things like my kids, my family, etc.. for just a couple of hours lately i have been putting alot of my pictures when i was young on my personal file, just because they are the only copies i have of them.. i heard it once said that when you have pain in your past , your childhood, that you should look at that picture of the 8 or 9 year old you once were and enbrace her,, or him.
i have done that, and i can tell you it opens the door to so much healing, so much compassion for yourself, something that you as an adult really need to move on.

Great pictures all.
My mom has all my baby and kid pics, dang it. Here's on of my son Cameron tho, it makes me think of how completely innocent a small child is, and how very glad I am that my boys (now almost 8) aren't going to have to grow up with all the Kult baggage. They are good, sweet boys and I love em more than anything!

what was the most influential saying/person that changed you ???
by run dont walk in.
if there was one thing that affected me most was, i would have to say the time i ran into a brother (while i was still in the borg) in the downtown area.. he said "just take one year off, no meetings, no service, no assemblies, no talks, nothing, just take a break, and you will see the wathctower differently, and your mind will clear.".
at the time i just shrugged it off as a bitter jw who left, now when i look back, it was probaly the biggest thing that someone ever said to me, and he was right, 100%.. was there a saying, an occurrence or a person that just got you thinking about how ridiculous the watchtower is ??

When I was about 13 years old I was still going to the meetings and studying with an elder from our local hall. My mom, at that time was inactive and having many doubts about the org. One day when I was getting ready to go the meeting she stopped me and asked me : "How do you know that Jehovah's Witnesses really have the truth?" It stunned me when she said that, and I answered defensively saying "They just do!" However, the seed had been planted and It was from that point that I really started to think, and not just accept everything that I read and heard from the org. I would think to myself "How DO I know that this is the truth?" and I would investigate. I wouldn't leave the witnesses until many years later, but I will always be thankful to my mom for making me think.
