So just WHO made this universe?

in the christian theology, "god" is the creator.

but many scriptures intimate that jesus was, at the very least, the "maker.

" there are 2 distinctly different greek words used in the bible to describe the activities of these two beings; a distinction that the wts (along with many other non-trinitological belief systems) has made.. i'd rather not argue about the meaning of these two words, as they are very clear, and hardly worth (imho) wasting the bandwidth on yet further etymological dissertations.. i recently suggested that i could see jesus as tinkering with dna, and god giving him helpful suggestions along the way.

Old family story of Masons and JW's...

okay, i know this has been beat into the ground, but i just remembered an old family story told to me when i was about 13.

my great uncle, back in the 40s/50s, was a witness.

actually, a witness and elder most all his life until he died in the 80s, i believe.

So... what would you think about a leader of a congregation rescuing a brother with his Masonic ties?

Hey...all's fair in love and theocratic war! Maybe the Boys From Bethel told him the code to get the brother out of jail.

I heard that down south in the small backwater towns the brothers are a bit more open about their affiliations with organizations other than the WBTS. Supposedly some actually have the Masonic logo glued on the dashboard or affixed to the bottom of the license plate. Like I said, this is what I HEARD, so no "Ianone treatment" if you don't mind.

Unlearning

the experience of unlearning, i guess, is part of any human life, but is something we particularly have in common as xjws.

once upon a time we knew it all -- the right and the wrong things to think or to do -- and then we had to unlearn somehow.

give up beliefs, ideas, prejudices, attitudes, etc.. the discussions on this board suggest that we all had -- and have -- different ways or strategies in unlearning.

Hold yer water, pard! Just got off the phone with my ol' D.O., Sam Hurd, and he says both definitions are still new light. So until he says different, that's the whole truth and nuthin' but the truth!

Relearn: To learn something again, as after having forgotten or neglected it.

Demons are psychological constructs and/or fantasies used by religion to keep brainwashed followers in fear of supernatural boogey men.

So when you're flattened into your bed and can't breathe or speak, and when you open the cellar door you're pelted with rocks, marbles, magazines and nails, and when the rocking chair in the parlor rocks by itself, and when conversations are going on upstairs and there's no one upstairs, it's all a fantasy? Whew!!! For a minute there I thought there were demons in the house. Thanx for puttin' that to rest for me kid-A.
