What Did YOU Give Up For The "Truth"???
by minimus indid you forfeit a college education, a great paying job which would've kept you from the meetings, a career, a trade, your loved ones, a vacation, etc.
so that you could be a good little witness?

Good evening all -
We missed out as a family. Not much time for recreation, down time, hurrying all the time getting 4 kids ready for mtgs. and assemblies. Gave up old friends. Religion really played havoc with our parents and siblings. Kids suffered from teachers because of being JWs. Kids gave up being in sports and other activities because they were not acceptable. Dealing w/depression with myself and my youngest son because of the religion. Just a lot of heartache because of the hypocrisy and judging by others. Juni ~~~~~~~

Dearest TopHat,
I'm sorry to hear of your recent loss of your daughter-in-law. I remember years back when I couldn't attend our only daughter's wedding in FL as our old doggie was extremely sick. Everyone understood that someone had to stay home to care for our pet's needs.
I hope that your memories of good times with your daughter-in-law will bring you comfort.
Love, Juni

Hi Min,
You've got excellent advice about your options. Personally I lean toward what Gary, Blondie, and Lady Lee said because I feel that if the elders take this occassion to talk w/you it pulls you away both physically and emotionally from your friend and the support you want to give him at this time. But if your friend truly wants you there then by all means I would go for him and if approached by elders tell them this is not the time or place for a meeting w/them. Blondie has some very good suggestions. Juni

Hi Swalker!
Good Topic.
We live in a small town in Wisconsin. Here you see a lot of guys w/baseball caps, beer drinkers, trucks, NO SMOKING signs , hunters, busy bars open til 2am, old ladies wearing dresses to town, community gatherings all the time, friendly people, the town wierdos, graduation class of 50, people who are related to each other who have been born and have died here, church bells at noon and then music to fit the season also at 6pm, close down Main St. for the parades and throw out candy for the kids and dogs, a miniature Prom king and queen also attend the parade and dance, fund raisers for people who have fallen on hard times, free prescription delivery, free pickup and delivery of your car if it has to go in for anything - even an oil change.
Bratwurst, shaum torts, all kinds of cheese, Friday night fish fries. Our own language. I.E. "Bubbler" for drinking fountain, "come by me" for come over, soda or pop are both used. Juni :)

they said and were quoting i believe russell/rutherford: "when we have to ask for money for the lord's work then we know that jehovah is not behind us.
" something like that.. maybe blondie would be able to help out here.

Society Needs to "Conserve Contributed Funds"
by Severus inin another effort to crimp the production of materials, the society is asking jw members to consider reducing their orders of watchtower & awake!
audio recordings.. at service meetings this week, a letter is read to the congregation:.
publishers are asked to "conserve contributed funds" by considering which of the 3 formats of audio recording they really need.

Isn't it amazing? In the "old" days they didn't hammer you for money at all. What don't they get? So many families are struggling to provide for their families' necessities. Not luxury items. They need to humble themselves and tighten their belts.
You might find the TOPIC that I posted this AM interesting. Happy Holidays, Juni :)

by free2beme ini work with a guy who sleep with a lot of different woman, and when i say a lot, i mean a lot!
i know what some are thinking, "oh he probably sleeps with a few and makes it sound like more.
" well i would think that too, if i did not actually meet a lot of these woman and work with some of them and they admit to sleeping with him on a regular basis.

Promiscuous sex I feel is wrong. I'm married and I would NEVER cheat on my husband. He did to me and it hurt and does change your relationship and trust. Never the same again.
If I were single perhaps w/a partner where the relationship was heading the right way. Can't say for sure as I'm not in that position. Too many things to consider. Juni - the cautious one
