ive been out of the truth too long and have forgotten the info im looking for.. .
i once did a school assignment on what was basically the parable of the prodigal son, only it wasnt that.
Perhaps it was a tailor made account by the JWs to justify why they do what they do? Or to justify them calling the "shots" and get you to jump through their hoops to get accepted back in??
The parable of the prodigal son shows God's love and forgiveness - unlike the JW's teachings about coming to mtgs., etc. etc. etc. for a year +. In the meantime being treated like a pile of stinking garbage and being shunned.

i think i'll sleep late just in case... an elder called my friends house and said that armageddon was almost certain to come this year; an urban myth stated that it would be tomorrow.
i guess i'll wait to make that car payment.

I pioneered off and on while raising 4 kids. It was HARD work and I had to be extemely organized w/my time.
Sometimes I would use their canned presentation when I was too tired to be spontaneous.
Also, for a while used some of their suggestions for overcoming objections until I just wouldn't do it anymore cause I felt so pushy and that is not me.
I agree w/Blondie. Working from my own car was better than sitting among backbiters and gossipers. I would often times take my own car cause I didn't trust the driving while blah blahing sisters drove. A group of us were in a near death situation once......very, very close to a head on collision until I screamed to STOP!
At the end I only used my Bible and left the literature in the car. Just had friendly conversations w/people and not pushy. I finally saw that I was merely a magazine saleswoman. Left them w/good thoughts about God; that's all. No more Not at Home lists either..... I was done jumping through a manmade organization's hoops.

during my tenure as a jehovahs witness, i brought it to the elders attention to refer to .
me by using my first or last name when addressing me.
Personally it bugged me because I AM ME not Sister ***** my husband's last name. Call me by my first name. One elder would say, Sister ***** or Brother *****and then call the person by their first name. That was good I thought.
It was funny though when the person conducting couldn't remember your last name and would just go ahead and call you by your first name. That was refreshing to hear.
Also, was shades of weirdo religions and movements at the time - sister THIS, brother THAT. Like the communal arrangements of the day......
