I have the same question as GaryBuss and Cygnus. Why Patterson and NY facilities if all is being printed at Wallkill?? There are a lot of things I don't understand right now and I'm starting to feel pretty low. Thanks. Juni Breeze

Watchtower printeries operating at only 50% capacity
by truthseeker inposted from channelc.org.
makes you think!!!!.
in the final talk at our district convention we were told that the printing plants are working at only 50% capacity (due, it was implied, by divine intervention).. the thought was expressed that this may be because there is going to be a massive increase in numbers coming into the organisation requiring more printing.. as we all know, growth has been minimal over many years now, so the question, where is this growth to come from, and if it comes, how are we going to stop the massive haemorrhage in brothers leaving?.

The race card has officially been played in New Orleans
by Texas Apostate inwell i knew it was only a matter of time, but the "play the race card" has begun.
never mind that the incompetant mayor of new orleans is black.
it's not his fault.

Texas A,
I agree with your post completely. Mayor Nagin sent those people to a place that they never should' ve gone. Be like telling people to use the elevators during a fire instead of using the stairs.
Were those busses out of water and gassed up?? If so, that would've been an excellent idea. Just wondering. How about the LA National Guard? Where were they? I heard that the Mississippi Nat'l Guard helped out in their state right away. Mayor Giuliani is one of a kind. Decreased crime in NY and got his ass in gear during 9/1/01. Isn't it ironic that this is happening around the same time 4 years later?
Have you heard how this influx of people is going to be handled down the road there in Houston? Juni Breeze

Hi ES,
I wrote you pm, but never heard back from you so I feel you must be doing better. I agree w/doofdaddy. If your fiance and you don't agree on MAJOR things like: budgeting your monies, child rearing, morals, goals in life you WILL be in for a lot of arguments and heartaches. I know that you had mentioned that you would love to have another child in this marriage. PLEASE PLEASE make sure you are making the right decision now with the marriage. Things will not change after the ceremony. I'm sure you've got advice. Please think about the advice you might not agree with as others sometimes can see what our hearts won't let us. Know what I mean? juni

Katrina Aftermath - whatever happened to personal responsibility?
by EscapedLifer1 inok, all you "bleedin' hearts" get ready to flame me..... i have been watching the developments in the devastated areas like everyone else, and something has begun to strike me.
there seems to be tens of thousands of people who are just sitting around waiting for help to miraculously drop out of the sky, and the longer they sit idle, the madder they get that the government hasn't swooped in and immediately solved all their problems.
i have a few questions about this mindset:.

This is for you HONESTY:
You must've not read my post. I think it is very unfair of you to group us all together in this thread. I think you need to read each of our posts before you make an across the board judgement. If not, then you are putting yourself in the same company of those that you are judging. You're a little younger than I. How many years in the Organization have you been?? Juni

There are a lot of idiots in this whole mess!!!! O.k. NOW. Why did the Mayor of NO send these people to the Super Dome in the first place??!! He had to have known like the top guy of the Army Corp. of Engineers said earlier that "the levees were known to have been built only to handle at the most a level 3 hurricane". Why would he send people to the Super Dome which was right there in the thick of it? It would be like telling people to take the elevator in the event of a fire and don't use the stairs!!!
And still tonight there are thousands still there at the Super Dome!!!! There should be no one there!! Homeland Security was set up to help prevent tragedies w/ terrorists. FEMA was set up to have the aid in place in case of emergencies. Both have failed miserably. Bush and the rest can watch the Weather Channel. They knew what was coming. Bush on vacation and Congress on summer break. Why did they have to come together to vote on monetary aid which only delayed the immediate needs? YOU'D THINK THEY WOULD LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES. GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACY AT ITS FINEST!! Too many people not knowing what the other is doing and in the mean time picking their noses. And then Mrs. Bush saying that, "we must get the children in school." Yeah right. What doesn't she get??

If my daughter is correct, 60% of New Orleans is poor. Is this correct? What I found interesting on the news was the statement made by the Army Corps of Engineers official. He said that the levees were only built to withstand a Level 3 hurricane. Now would not the Mayor of NO know this?? If so, why in the world would he have all of those people go to the SuperDome which is right in the thick of it??
Shows there was no preplanning EVER in an area that is affected by hurricanes. Very sad situation. Now we have thousands at the Astro Dome in Houston and they are filled to capacity there. They are moving people to the other convention centers.
Yes people should be more responsible. Being poor does not excuse people from their responsibility. Lack of education plays a big part in this - some just don't have any common sense and rely on others to think for them and as a lot of us know this is a big no-no.
Hopefully a lot will be learned from this disaster. The next disaster could be a major earthquake. We have to get our s*** together. My deepest sympathy goes out to those who have lost loved ones in death. And those who have been separated from their loved ones. Mothers from their children; moms from their newborns; husbands from wives and the sorrow goes on. Bless those who have volunteered to help fellow human beings under terrible conditions. Doctors and nurses who have stayed with their patients at the hospitals seeing that they are rescued before themselves. And all of the other folks who are giving loving aid.

To the Listener,
Thanks for clarifying the information. Didn't sound right to me that the Society would monetarily aid the chosen ones.
Does a Bro. Dan (?) Sydlik still organize group trips? We went to NY in '71 to view the printing facilities. He was into the travel arrangements service. For all kinds of vacations. Maybe he does the travel arrangements w/these Int'l Assemblies????
Randy had mentioned some of the locations of past Int'l Ass. I wonder how often they have these overseas? Carrot on a stick scenario sounds right. But figure the logistics - you'd have a LONG TIME before you were "mature" enough to go. Atleast 15 years and you know that will change over time. And how often do they have overseas Int'l Assemblies? Time for bed - I'm repeating myself!!!

First off, thanks to all for your replys. TO 3RD: SOCIETY APPROVED DELEGATES GET AID (FINANACIAL?) TO GO OVERSEAS? WHAT IF THEY WANTED TO MAKE A VACATION OUT OF IT? OR IS THAT A NO-NO? PROBABLY THEY HAVE TO AGREE TO HAVE A PART ON A FUTURE SERVICE MTG. TELLING OF THEIR EXPERIENCE?? SO IF AN AVERAGE PUBLISHER WANTS TO GO, HE HAS NO AID FROM THE SOCIETY AND HE IS JUST A REGULAR DELEGATE? Like you said, their term DELEGATE has no real meaning. It still smacks of favoritism. It should be announced and whoever can afford to go and has the time should be able to go. No certain ones being aided by the Society. Otherwise this gets turned into a sweepstakes sort of deal.
Just more control as I see it. How different from the "world"? NOT!!!! The ELITE get favored treatment. And so it goes.
