  just curious about this.

  do you realize now what the shunning practice does to a person's emotional health?

  to shun or isolate a human being is one of if not the worst punishment.

  Thanks to you guys for answering back. Because you had a heart in these JC matters is probably one of the reasons you got out. Another thing, my husband was a MS and he said during some of their mtgs. w/the elders there was talk that was not theocratic. For instance, who was the prettiest sister in the hall or discussing that they wished they had the same problem that Bro. so and so had of having a wife who couldn't get enough sex.

  I was appalled at hearing about this, but of course I was very gullible to believe what I was told. Juni

  Just curious about this. Do you realize now what the shunning practice does to a person's emotional health? To shun or isolate a human being is one of if not the worst punishment. Hardened criminals are put into solitary confinement. I'm sure a lot of people have suffered and/or still suffering because of the JC's decisions. Do any of you ex elders who were on JC now suffer because of what you did to others? Juni

  old and was a jw for 35.i did everything from pioneer to bethel to ms to elder, school overseer ect.

  Welcome Onesong!

  This site is wonderful for getting your questions answered and encouragement when you need it. My husband and I came in in 1970 and baptized in '71. Raised 4 kids, but none are in the org. today. All are productive citizens and lead good lives. We have 7 beautiful grandchildren and we enjoy good times as one large family now. In the beginning, the org. wasn't so demanding as it is now. And this money thing really gets us. They're no different than those they "expose"!! My husband was a MS also and I pioneered. I could write a book on our experiences - to borrow a friend's statement - about "the good, the bad, and the ugly." I do think of my good friends that I lost, but I realize now that their friendship was conditional. And that makes me sad, but I understand as I too was under the "spell" once.

  Email I received off mum

  hey all, i usually pop into my folks once a week so that my son can see his grandparents.

  anyway last week my dad asked if i wanted to go to a country show\fete with them on sat , so anyway a couple of days later i emailed my mum to see whether my fiance (non jw) could come too.. this is the email i received today.

  as you are going to be busy over the next few weeks, we dont want to put added pressure on you, dont feel you have to come to the show.plus we have already explained the situation regarding mike we dont have anything against him personally, but the situation is difficult for us regards associating with him as your fiance because it would be viewed as our supporting your decision to marry out of the truth.

  Hi ES,

  This religion spoils so many relationships if one allows it. You obviously want things to work; they don't. They are the losers in this. The best to you and your son and hope you have a beautiful wedding day - you can have the peace of mind that you tried with your parents. This is their choice. You are not alone with these circumstances. But life goes on................ juni :)

  i doubt anyone remembers me, but i used to be around these boards i bit.

  i think my last post was in the summer of 2004. as a refresher, my husband is an inactive jw.

  we've been married for two and a half years now, and we're living hundreds of miles from where he grew up and attended meetings.

  You can read some of my history - just click on Juni. I probably wasn't posting when you were. Sounds like you and your husband are enjoying your life together which is wonderful!!!! Yes, I too, found that there are many loving people "in the world" who will come to your aid and be a TRUE friend w/o strings attached as it is in the org.

  Yeah, I remember all of those talks that no worldly person is a good person. B****. It's been so refreshing to know now that this is a biased and false statement and therefore I have gone on w/my life and enjoy company with those that are respectful to me.

  I hope for your continued blessings outside of this narrow minded organization made up of imperfect men who want to impose their ideas as to how you should live your life down to how God wants you to worship Him in every single situation and if you don't you will not be saved from destruction. They play with peoples' need for spirituality - always wanting you to do more and be more.

  I'm just numb! :-( I need to vent!

  i have just witnessed for myself one of the most hypocritical scenes ever before in my life!

  my sister's ex husband, ( father to 3 boys, 12, 15, 20 years) commited suicide a few days ago.

  he has been a jehova's witness all of his life and and also suffered from bi polar disorder for most of it also, particularly bad in the past 3 years.

  Good evening Caz,

  There are so many here that have had similar responses in times of need. Our family did when we asked help for our daughter. Elder we talked to went on vacation and never got back to us. First off, they are not qualified to give help so they don't know what to say. Secondly, if it doesn't relate to attending mtgs., service or any other thing that deals with following the rules of the Organization they don't have a clue. I detest pushy people like those sisters you mentioned that went ahead w/their own plans after the funeral and left his wife and families out of the picture.

  They made a horrible time worse by their self-righteousness. I just don't know what more to say as I'm seeing red already. I wish the best to you and your sister and your families. Juni

  since i'm relatively healthy, don't smoke, hardly drink (2 beers a day), and if i base myself on my grandparents and parents age, i think that i should live up to anywhere between 85 and 95. which means i should have another 40 to 50 years of posting here.

  After 9 days of rain, it finally stopped! Anyone had flooding problems?

  we are not used to this, here in the northeast.

  friday evening, i checked out the cellar for any water coming in, and it was dry, so i went back on the computer.

  about midnight, i decided to hit the sack, so i shut off the computer, turned around, and stepped into water !!

  We are in Wisconsin and it's been a very dry, hot summer. Soybeans did great, but not the corn. Sorry you had so much rain!! juni
