I think the constant emphasis put on new light in the organization is a deliberate mental manipulation technique used to discourage witnesses from even wanting to know anything old about the religion. You are always on a treadmeal, always trying to keep up and not be left behind. It's an effective way against the sheer foolishness that's printed even nowadays.

Is the Administration Planning Another War?
by Greenpalmtreestillmine ini've been reading and reading, thinking and thinking.
it is hard to understand why president bush chose to come out in support of sharon right at this moment, when things in iraq are at their most difficult and sensitive.
people are saying he has only inflamed the situation even more than before and has further endangered the troops.

IMO, Bush only did this to ensure that his ultraconservative right-wing base is solidified. There are millions of evangelical Christians in this country that revere Israel. This latest move is all about tying up any loose ends before election time. He'll deal with whatever after-effects later.

To The Opposers of George W. Bush and The War In Iraq
by L_A_Big_Dawg inas i read grenpalmtrees post to those of us that support president bush and the current iraqi war, i was reminded that i needed to do something concrete to show me support for this situation.
so i contacted camp pendleton (a marine base which has lost a number of troops in iraq), and spoke with an officer, and asked what i could do to support the families of those that have paid the ultimate price in this war.
he gave me a list of accounts, and i have since donated money to those accounts.

Maybe we all did go into Iraq for the wrong reasons. However now we're there, to pull out now would be a ghastly mistake.
I'd bet a fortune that's exactly what they expected most people to say. George Bush is an idiot. He'll definetely be out on his ass come November.

Yeah Weasel, a bunch of us have probably been through that. It's hard living and making decisions when a death sentence looms over your head. That said, I'm glad to see you finally found out the real "new light".

We don't live in a democracy. It's a Representative Republic. IMO, political parties and afiliations are not the problem. What we live intoday is unfortunately a world of extremists, where each side believes the other is pure evil and everyone in power is convinced that their wayis the only way.

Powell admits Iraq evidence mistake
by Simon inthe truth always comes out eventually.
i hate to say "i told you so" but all those who were extremely critical of those who questioned the 'evidence' do, i think, need to re-evaluate the faith they put in the powers that be and perhaps owe some people an apology.
remember?

No doubt about it, Clinton's management of the domestic Government is a legacy that will treat him well in history. He did under almost constant attack from conservative tabloid media, he did it despite losing his party losing control of the Congress. Blowjobs be damned.

Frankly, I'm at a loss as to what he should have done after Sept. 11. Maybe just nothing.
No he did what any president would have done....went to War in Afghanistan and knocked the Taliban from power. All this Iraq stuff is just extra and takes the focus off of the ar against terror. Believe it or not...I don't think that is as big a problem for the US as it is for other countries. Really, you should see the federal buildings here....they are like fortresses, now. All that leads me to think an other countries really afford to make their goverenment buildings secure and at the same time have resources left over to secure the general public? I know the US can....but can other countries really afford to do it?

I'm telling ya the conservatives are sending this country to hell in a handbasket. Someone will take this to the Supreme Court and hopefully, they'll get it right.

Victory for Terrorism
by Yerusalyim inthe terrorists won a great victory in spain.
mind you, i'm all for the democratic process...it's great...and had the spanish decided to part ways with the us of it's own volition, great!...however, the socialists were project to not win a majority in this weekends election...that is until the terrorist attack.
now, with the socialist coming into power...and the promise to both withdraw the 1300 spanish soldiers from iraq and to part ways with the us on foriegn policy we can look for more such attacks in other countries.

Terrorism won no victory in Spain. Think about, if the so-called war on terrorism was actually having some kind of real positive affect on the prevailing attitudes that cause ppl to engage in acts of terrorism, then 3/11 probably wouldn't have happened. Terrorism cannot be defeated with bombs and guns. You have to find ways to change the minds and attitudes of ppl who become terrorists. How can you truly harm a person who doesn't mind dying?
