Really I'm surprised the Republicans held on to power as long as they did. They certainly milked 9/111 for all it was worth though. That's a damn shame too because if we'd had some competent people running the govt these past 8 yrs we could have accomplished alot.

when told about this he said sorry but "couldn't work out how to re-emburse the lost hours.".
2. my elderly mum sold some furniture when moving, to a sister who promised to pay from her single parent pension in small installments........nope!

I never experienced this sort of thing regularly suring my time as a witness. However for a time I was employed by a brother who installed flooring who ended up getting disfellowshipped for smoking pot. I decided to quit working for them since everything happened so abruptly and I had become sort of close with his family especially his son. That JW reasoning is something isn't it? Anyways, one of the elders from our congo decided to take me on with his business. Businesswise, it wasn't a good experience. The main thing was his not being able to pay me like we agreed because he always had to buy medicine for his wife or something else. I only worked with him for like 2 or 3 months, but I recall that happening pretty often. Honestly, I think that guy still owes me money. I never had any problems with the brother that got disfellowshipped though. I kinda regret leaving the way I did.

In Hebrews faith is redefined as just hope. I think that particular verse and chapter are one of the main reasons why scholars don't believe Paul wrote it. Faith to Paul and the primitive Christians was actaully believeing that Christ had died for your sins and rose from the dead. To me that makes the term pretty concrete, it's an event that you either believed in or didn't.
I think Fred Franz worded that passage that way because it allows for all the convoluted doctrines that are a part of the JW "faith". Really, how many assured expectations and unbeheld realities have the JW's had to deal with over the decades?

by Black Man ini know the mormons go door to door and i have seen some church of god people occasionally.
who else has organized preaching ministries (door to door, etc.)?
i'm in an ongoing dialogue with relatives and this is one of their contentions - that the witnesses must have the truth (despite the many fallacies) because they are the only one that go door to door preaching.

A better perspective from which to approach this argument might be what exactly did the authors of the NT mean when they penned the phrase that is translated, "house to house" in the NWT. You might be surprised to learn that the greek term used doesn't have to mean from "house to house" in the sense of the door to door work the WT claims is so vital. Take a look at the Kingdom Interlinear and you'll see that the same term is translated as simply "in private homes" in other scriptures.
So did the first century Christians actually go door to door? Or, did they just preach to people in public places ( like the Temple in Jerusalem or the Areopagus in Athens) as well as their private homes?

How The Organization Hooks You With "Privileges"
by minimus inright from the beginning, you are bombarded with others telling you what a "privilege" it is to "be used" in the organization.
especially if you're a male, it is easy to get hooked by the elder's lines.....for example, a male is given the "privilege" of "handling the microphones" if they put in enough time in the ministry and they aren't setting a bad example.
if you're "faithful in what is least", greater privileges await you.

Hooking you with privliges is right. I was on the spiritual fast track in my congregation and actually was about to be appointed a MS when I decided to end my time in the Tower. Towards the end of my sojourn I was visited alone and off the record by an elder in what turned out to be a preliminary fact-finding mission. He basically wanted to know if I'd been banging this chick I was seeing at the time. It was none of his business, but I hadn't banged her so I told him no. Next, instead of giving me some scriptural admonition, he goes into this rant about how I could get back the "privleges" I'd lost with time if I would just stop seeing this chick and come back to the meetings. I'm saying to myself; "Is this really all they have for you in what could be a time of spiritual emotional crises?" Here I am on the verge of leaving a belief system I'd given a third of my young life to. I can say with all sincerity that passing along the microphones and handing out literature at the counter where not all that big of a deal to me.
