They must have had advanced technology, mankind built an immense floating zoo out of nothing but wood that housed every single species of animal, and technology was advanced enough so that only eight people could take care of every last one of them. A few generations later mankind even built a tower that reached up to heaven itself! Please.

Do you believe that ancient humans once had advanced technology?
by Elsewhere inthis is something that has been tossed around for some time, but something occurred to me: if ancient humans did have advanced technology, such as space travel, we would know about it.
the reason i say we would know about it is because they would most certainly have left objects in orbit around earth.
yes, the low-orbit objects would have eventually fallen back due to the drag of the upper atmosphere.

Do you believe Mary was a virgin?
by JustTickledPink inmy catholic friend and i were talking the other night about the virgin mary.
she doesn't even believe that she was a virgin and she doesn't believe in the immaculate conception.
if you think about it logically today, if you had a fiance that went to visit relatives for a few months and then came back pregnant and told you it was god's child, would you believe it?

The Greeks had many stories of their gods fathering human children with unique abilities. And what ethnic group were the first Christians courting with their Jewish sect?

Santa will be short a reindeer this year....
by morty inas some of you are aware, it is hunting season right now where live.the hunters have pushed (ran the deer out of the bush's) every bush that there has to be had around here.in other word's ( for those who are not sure of what i mean) they walk all the bushes and woods to get the deer to come out to hunt and kill them.
killing the deer i have no problem with.
it's when the deer almost kill me and my family i begin to have a problem.. last night at about 11.00pm i was taking home my son's girlfriend home.

Actually, hunting deer helps control the population, meaning fewer deer to run out in front of vehicles, but you don't want to hear it right now, do ya? You know what? I'll be quiet!
Here's to a quick recovery.

Yeah, I thought it was Japan. I wonder if the even have the death penalty in Japan?
EDIT: Yep, they do. Dammit!
Speaking of which there was an article about a man who survived Hiroshima because he was imprisoned for preaching. I've heard from other sources non-JW sources that a prisoner was the sole survivor of Hiroshima (no mention of him being a JW), and there were quite a few names and dates in the article, so it could be true.

Ever notice how they (we!) would enunciate all the buzzwords, too? As if to stress how down with the lingo they (we!) were?
"Yes, well that was before the new understanding of the term 'generation.'"
"Afternoon arrangements are at 12:30 for service."
"Unfortunately, some suffer from fear of man."

"Saved" the movie, does it remind you of any OTHER organizations?
by gaiagirl ini just watched "saved" with mandy moore and makauley culkin, about some kids in a so called "christian" high school.
some of the kids are very, very zealous, others quieter, others openly rebellious.
as the story unfolds, it becomes apparant who those are who are actually observing the teachings of jesus, and who are just giving lip service.

I didn't care for the movie. The triangle with the gay boyfriend, pregnant girl, and minister's son wasn't believable. What did the Jewish girl expect going to a private, religios school other than to subject herself to non-stop preaching? So I didn't feel sorry for her. She was quite nasty to Mandy Moore's character, who was only doing what she thought was right until she couldn't take it anymore and did something very human to absolve the problem. So overall, I just didn't buy it, although I do agree there were similarities.
Plus, and this is ironic coming from an atheist, it was rife with the same anti-religious cliches that have been around for ages: everyone's a hypocrite, the "heathens" are all good people, Christianity and homosexuality don't conflict, etc. That's every bit as slanted as the black-and-white worldview the writers were trying so hard to satirize.

Do Only Apostates Read the Magazines?
by metatron infrequently, in coming to this site, i have to laugh.
we read and carefully study much of.
the society's literature to a degree that vastly exceeds most witnesses.

Yeah, I've laughed a few times at the irony of it all.
We can't wait to get our hands on the newest literature, can't wait to comment on what we read, speak to others about leaving false religion and seeing the truth, and the most important bit of research we can do is read publications made by a (former) member of the Governing Body.
The more things change...

kay_kay, there are so few decent women out there, no woman should ever have to settle for a guy who treats her like property. Not ever. I don't know you, but I've known many women who have been abused by men, and every single one of them has extremely low self esteem, and for no reason. They're all beautiful people, as I'm sure you are too. So treat yourself like the goddess you know you are!
