did stories, exaggerations and fables turn up after you left the "faith"?
Dont know, when I left I didnt really have any friends in it and frankly didnt care if anyone talked about me.

i hope this is the final time i will be annoyed by letters from the witnesses.
i have had many dealings with your membership; all of them bad.
Cool! I would be proud of her too.

i grew up in an inner city area with many ethnic groups.
i saw very little racism or prejudice in the hall.
i'm wondering if my experience is isolated.

My favorite quote is: "I'm not racist, I have black friends."

I dont know if any other black people other than me responded to this post, but in my opinion if there was any racism within the JWs it was mostly covert and subtle.
If it happened you were left to wonder if you were taking something the wrong way or maybe you just misunderstood when white Sister Hubbard said to you "Maybe you just miss being with you're own kind."
Or when your mother is going through bouts of depression and needing the brothers help but the brothers never seem to have the time to come to her house but are seen often at the white neighbors across the street who happen to be catholic and really have no interest in studying with the JWs.
This and other stuff like this happened when my family moved from a black neighborhood and congregation to a white neighorhood and congregation. Hm.....

this is my first forum post though i've been out here reading yours for a while.
i didn't know how to post my bio.
i became a jdub at the age of 16. i had a child out-of-wedlock who was 1 year old at the time and i was searching for answers - i wanted my son to have a future and the one the witnesses portrayed was better than anything i'd ever heard!
What a cool first post Sweet Tee - I loved it! Welcome to the board.
Josie
P.S. Like your pic too
Now I'm homesick!
