  The unpleasantness of growing up in the jw world.

  jw children have typically a very hard time growing up because of having to be so different from other kids they can't celebrate christmas, easter, birthdays or national holidays can't associate with "worldly" kids because that can ruin good habits, and as teenagers have to suppress sexual urges at the time when they are at their most intense.

  they are constantly under pressure and living in a jw environment that's not particularly loving, understanding, or supportive they will probaly tell them: if you feeling down do some more field work to cheer up.

  no wonder why so many leave.

  When my daughter came of age to be a Brownie I signed her up because 1. she really wanted to and alot of her friends were joining and 2. I had wanted to be a Brownie/Girl Scout when I was in school and never got the opportunity because jws dont do that.

  I told my mother that Jocelyn was a Brownie. Mother wasnt too happy about it but there was nothing she could do. She did ask me why and I told her the above reasons. Mother said that she had never wanted to be a Brownie (she said this with a superior air). I found this quite hard to believe, remembering how it felt when my best friend became a Brownie, seeing her were the uniforn, and knowing she was having a lot of fun.

  Now that I have my daughter in Brownies, I dont see what the fuss was about other than the society using this resriction to further isolate children.

  my wife and i just got home from the gym and there were 2 jw's at our door.

  i couldn't help myself....i felt rage building up inside but i tried to play it cool.

  just coming off the ne apostafest and hearing everyones story just pissed me off when i saw those two dubs standing there.

  is it possible that just about everything we say about the jw's on this forum is true, but on the other hand they would be the only true religion that god approves, even though they are imperfect and make errors?

  Grandparents and grandkids

  < => i have a question for anyone who can help out.

  my oldest (7) has gone to his grandparents.

  normally he stays 1 week or 1 1/2 weeks.

  Two ago my mother took my kids (9,5, and 2) for 6 weeks to California. I dont know what she was thinking and after the first two weeks she kept calling me and saying that she couldnt wait to bring the kids back! lol

  I think they are right about alot of things. As a matter of fact I still believe alot they teach.

  Like what? When ever someone says this I'm always curious as to what they are talking about.

  Inappropriate "shepherding" calls.

  how many have recieved calls by the elders that were under the guise of "shepherding", but somehow inappropriate, i.e, you were a woman alone with only one elder showing up, or you felt physically intimidated by both.

  or say they show up at like, 10:30 at night for a shepherding call.

  and you say "hey, i appreciate the visit but please call first!

  The last time I got a shepherding call...well the call wasnt for me, it was for my parents. I happened to be housesitting for my parents, who were away on a cruise. I get a doorbell ring (my parents dont have a peephole - darn them!!) and I opened the door. Low and behold it's an elder and the PO! I dont bat an eye, I dont even crack a smile when they tell me who they are. I dont remember what they said exactly other than they were there to encourage my parents. I told them they were out of town and would be back in a few days (just in time to miss the PO's visit ). I'm so glad they didnt try to engage me (maybe it was the look on my face? ). I wouldnt have let them in anyway since I was alone in the house with my kids and there wasnt any men in the house.
