Mother's Day Reflections
by JustMeNonJDub inlast night, as i was commuting home from work, i remembered going through my mother's things after she had died of a brain anuerysm a couple of weeks before.
my mom was the wife of an elder, and we were the quintessential elder family.
in one of her boxes, i found a mother's day card that i had made for her in first grade.

Last night, as I was commuting home from work, I remembered going through my mother's things after she had died of a brain anuerysm a couple of weeks before. My mom was the wife of an elder, and we were the quintessential elder family. In one of her boxes, I found a Mother's Day card that I had made for her in first grade. To this day, I do not understand how setting aside one day out of the year to honor your mother or father is so "pagan."

How Many Friends Did You Lose Over This Election?

i may disagree with friends over politics and/or religion, but the only reason i would cut off a friend is if they betrayed me.

Hoser, would love to see the whole quotation, and not something that appears to be cherry picked.
That said, one of the best things that I have learned since joining a reformed church after over 20 years in an Arminian Pentecostal church and 20 years as a JW, is that no one in the Old Testament is a good moral example. Abraham was a liar, Jacob was a con artist, Joseph was a whiny mama's boy, Moses had a temper. I can go on and on. Then Jesus comes along and says that it is sinful to not only do the acts, but think about a woman lustfully is the same as sleeping with her, and to get angry at another without justification is the same as murder. Talk about raising the bar!
The only hero in the Bible is Jesus because he fulfilled the law perfectly, and that fulfillment is transfered on those that put their trust in Him.

You don't see what has happend to our healthcare system here in Southern California due to the massive influx of Illegal Aliens, and Aliens that are using the system. We have lost around six ERs, due to their use of that system for the treatment of their medical needs.
If this does make you feel any better, I absolutely hate the fact that President Bush continuously plays footsie with Mexicqan President Vincente Fox over this issue and Mexico's continued footdragged of the deportaion of Mexicans, here illegally, and commiting heinous crimes.

Six of Nien, you demonstrate exactly what is wrong with leftist and the political debate. When presented with facts, you play the race card or any other type of name calling in order to quash debate in the public square. This is so typical that it's not funny anymore. When you are losing an arguement call your opponent a racist.
This is sad. The facts are simple, they are illegal, and life should not be easier for them than for legal immigrants or American citizens.
If it were up to me, I would advocate the closure of the borders to ALL IMMIGRANTS.
