Personalized license plates. . . .

how did being referred to as a brother or sister make you feel?the term brother always reminded me of being in some militant or holy roller religion.

during my tenure as a jehovahs witness, i brought it to the elders attention to refer to .

me by using my first or last name when addressing me.

True, the Bible uses the term brother, but did the Society
use the term “brothers”and “sisters” to unite or further
indoctrinate?

I hated it especially in public places where other non JW's were listening. It always made me cringe that and all the JW speak, like "new order", "worldly", "truth" and all those dubizms.

Looking back it was not only to indoctrinate us but to make us look unique as if we were part of some elitist society. I always felt we sounded stupid.

Long Beach Convention weekend is over!

this weekend was my wife's convention.

i attended with her on friday morning.

she attended alone during the afternoon as i had some clients to meet with for my business.

I also made it a point to stop and say hi to our fellow apostates that were picketing the convention. Though I'm not a big fan of picketing, I told them to keep up the good work as my entire
family is trapped in this cult.

Stop college or keep plugging on?...opinions please.

here's my situation...i'm doing college online because i can't very well do college the traditional way with a 2 year old.

anyway, my computer has been acting really funny and it's not reliable anymore.

my ex worked on it for almost 4 hours and the darn thing still crashes saying my "virtual" memory is too low.

Get a new computer they're really cheap and finish school. By the time you've finished your kiddo will be in school full time and you can get a decent job.

my 45 year old son committed suicide in may, he was living in texas, i live in mississippi, he was raised here and had many family members and friends here so on june 4, i had his obituary run in our local paper...on june 6, i got a letter in the mail from a town 12 miles away, thinking it was from someone who knew him i opened it to find that it was from a jw who i do not know and it contained a typed note along with that damn when someone you love dies tract in it!

i was furious at the person who sent it until i thought about how brainwashed they are and how important it is for them to get their time in even if it's done in such a disgusting manner as reading the obituaries and imposing their screwed up beliefs on people like myself who are in pain and grieving the loss of their first born son!

i tore it to bits and put it in the trash where it belongs.

When it became clear *note I had to be hit by a two by four* that an Elders wife could get away with adultry and ruin families in her wake over and over again without punishment......well except to continue to live with the Elder and stay in the B'org, I guess that is punishment enough, maybe?

hi again, sorry i haven't been able to get to the computer for days now as i am so tired when i get home from the hospital.

yesterday i was just so out of things i had to take a break mentally and emotionally.. it is terrible seeing marco everyday being sick and deteriating.

on sunday after church i went to the hospital and just got there in time to speak to the cadiologist.

as i have expressed on here many time, paris hilton is my least favorite of the hollywood people.

so, seeing her escorted from the court to the police car like a common criminal, while she yelled for her mother, ...... .

Hi to Everyone

my name is dawn and i'm a ex-jw, who has been out since l976.

i live in michigan, was born and raised here but also spent about 3 years in austin, texas (1 of them as a witness - the other two running amouk having fun).

i just spent the last 2 1/2 hours on the phone with my dear old buddy, dave, (seven006) whom i've heard some of you know.

Splendid idea - a good hard pinch would do him some good!! As would some company - he likes to kind of crawl up in his cave - I think a visit would do him some good.

Yeah hubby and I have been thinking about him lately, those two are both cave men! *grunt*grunt*grunt* Nice to hear he's doing better and here is a shout out to ya Dave as I know you are lurking!

Roof Repair-Could Any Brothers Give a Hand?

a friend/co-worker of mine who is an inactive dub told me today that the old hall i went to is getting a new roof.

however, he was upset because only "special" people are being allowed to work on it (himself not included, nor his active, in good-standing father).

it seems you have to be "invited" to work on your own kingdom hall roof now.

BTW, this same nut picked me up on a Saturday to take me to my first kwikbild. I had a tshirt on that had a Fender Stratocaster on it (I play guitar, subject of even more interesting threads . . .) He freaked, said i could not wear a shirt with worldly logo's on it. So we detoured to a locall store and I bought a frikkin plain tshirt. When we got to the qwikbuild I noticed immediately that the 3 sons of the most prominent elder in CNY (And head of the KwikBild commitee) had Heinekin, Van Halen, and NY Yankees tshirts on, I remember this distinctly because it screamed at me louder than the sign thing. . Then I noticed that I was just about the only one who actually had a tshirt on with no logo's of anysort. I felt like a maroon.

LOL I remember the quick build days! One prominent family in the area I lived had not only a construction company which employed many JW's but they were involved heavily with all the regional KH quick builds in the circuit. The whole family of men were all Elders and yet their kids had to buy "special" clothes to be able to work on the quick builds because all their clothing was littered (as one elder put it) with logos of some sort.

Too funny, I remember their Mom complaining about having to buy "special" clothing for the boys so they could go work in it......I reminded her it was a bit like her short skirts and short shorts that she couldn't wear to JWgatherings. I told her if you have worldly clothes and spiritual clothes you absolutely should know when to wear what! LOL

The nut doesn't fall to far from the tree........
